Default Losing traction easily

This is my first RWD car pretty much. Had a miata for 2 months but obviously not the same and it also basically had no driver aids.
I feel like I lose traction a lot, even though I don't really drive that fast.
I have the '08 so I can understand not being able to get off the line well (no real LSD), but yesterday I gunned it after already getting to 15 mph and traction control started going nuts and the car was darting all over the place, which required me to let off the throttle. It felt almost like torque steer. Road was fairly dry too.
Is this normal? I pretty much got passed by an SUV because I didn't have traction.
I have pretty new continental tires on it too from 2022, so I doubt that's the problem. On the highway when I'm already at speed it's a missile and I have no issues.
Let a noob know!

Which Continental tires do you have? Was it a colder morning, etc.?

Normal? Good grief no. Tires, tire pressure and rear end alignment would all be suspect. Sounds a lot like you have bad alignment to me.

Alignment was done not too long ago and it goes straight as an arrow down the highway, so I’d be really surprised if it was alignment. I’ll check again what contis it has and get back to y’all. Tires were not really warmed up so perhaps that was it… but it wasn’t even below 55 deg F outside

So I just checked again and I have Continental ExtremeContact (DWS 06 PLUS if that means anything). They have a ton of tread and are from 2022. They seem okay

Bad alignment can drive perfectly straight. If you have toe out in the back, it would definitely act up. Alignment techs don't always tighten things the way you would hope. It's worth checking. Those tires should not be any problem at all.

Agreed - those are a very good tire. Your problem likely lies elsewhere.

Guess I'll have to get alignment checked again... I'll make sure to check them on a lift at some point just in case.
Today I tried taking a sharp turn with NO THROTTLE... the entire car slid a little... sucks because it really neuters the car. Could a weird alignment really cause this?

What part of Texas are you in? Cold tires on my IS 500 or IS 350 will cause the rear end to come out a little at times making a right hand turn out of my neighborhood from a dead stop and not being hard on the gas. If it's just a little it's could just be cold tires.

I'm in Austin. It was definitely not cold enough warrant this much traction control. My Saab 9-3 on Turanza QuietTracks has more grip than my ISF right now
