Default Fender antenna

--

My 2015 IS350c has a shark fin on the roof and a fixed black 10" long one on the right rear fender. The body shop seems to have lost my fender antenna. Is it just a normal, old fashioned, screw in type? What is that antenna for?

Hello Ron,

The right rear fender I believe is for radio and the shark fin on the roof of your car is for GPS signal.

The antenna is here for about $50:
https://www.lexuspartsnow.com/parts/...309-53060.html

Part number:
86309-53060

It is basically an old-fashioned screw-in type (CW to tighten, CCW to loosen). I don't use the radio that often, but they shouldn't have lost the antenna. IMO, I'd have them replace it and order you a new part.

Good luck fam!

If you must replace with OEM then great. It is after all just an antenna shaft - that sometimes, gets stolen by vandals with nothing else to do.

I put a stubby from autozone on mine. I think it was $25.

Shark fin antennas were designed to provide a more stable and stronger signal for radio, GPS, and cellular communication. The traditional rubber antenna is for AM/FM reception.
