Default Radio compatibility and issues

I am trying to upgrade the radio and dated overloaded dash buttons. Initially ordered the SCOSCHE ITCLS01B
DOUBLE DIN DASH KIT and planned to just put an Alpine radio and backup camera.

Long story short not that simple. Apparently, Best Buy installed advised that the subwoofer amp and radio amplifier will not be compatible. Not sure if this was true, but he said I would need two new amps and a bunch of other parts to make the radio instal sound half way decent. Like $1200 more decent! Plus the price of the dash kit another $323. and the camera $50. whooping total of like $1600!

I decided to call a couple other installers in town and one of them saved me from wasting a lot of money. He stated the dash kit for the Scosche has a LOT of problems. The AC controls fail, the system is very buggy, and they have had a lot of complaints, He stated he would not even install it! I decided to return everything .

He suggested that maybe another Lexus stock radio might work that has touch screen and Navigation. He wasn't sure if this was possible or if the plugs were the same. Anyone know if that might be possible??

Then I saw another thread about the Tesla radio kit on the IS C forum here. Maybe this is the better option. Last posts don't really say the long term results yet.

If anyone has any suggestions or input I would really appreciate it!

Check with your dealer to see if installing a newer system would be good and possible, unless there's a "lock" on the system you can probably get the console/system outside (online or toyota dealer could be cheaper) and have it installed for cheap if the plugs are the same.

I'm interested in upgrading to the Tesla/big screen style but there are still bugs that needs to be worked on. Hopefully once there's a plug and play version that replaces the radio + camera and no bugs, I might jump in and do the upgrade in the future.

Good luck.
