I'm sorry but unless this does a 180 Deg in person [which some cars do]- they ruined the look of the IS w/this chop. It looks like they grafted the awful SC's rear onto an IS. The current Sedan is such a wonderful design, so this is very disappointing to see.
It just looks cheep [outside], and far from then photochops that I've seen on this - you can do much better Lexus.
I think the G35C Hardtop is going to blow this away look wise, and that hurts to say

I do love the black wood with the tan interior, I was hoping the 09's would have that but instead got brown wood.

Once again, BMW has left us an undesirable trend. First it was the Bangle butt, then the iDrive. Now, the 3 series convertible made it seem ok to have all those gaps and lines in the roof and trunk lines. It does not look good to have all those gaps and lines! But since BMW did it with the 3-convertible and sold okay, others like Lexus are going to think it's ok too. Also, one of the best things about the IS is its relatively large and useful trunk space. (I can fit 3 golf bags in there!) This, as all convertibles and coupes do, kills that advantage.
I'm not feeling this new design, and don't understand why it was released so late in the car's life cycle. I mean, isn't the current design cycle at least half done? Unless of course, we are headed for a long lasting global recession, in which case all the R&D and design teams would be cut and this generation will last as long as the SC...
I love my IS350, but know that the buzz around the IS is pretty much done. Whenever a new entry sports sedan entry is out, the magazines seem to all ignore the IS as a comparison, instead choosing the G35 as the "Japanese representative." Never understood that... With that said, I don't see how the IS250C is at all relevant by the time it arrives at dealers... Those that wanted an IS already have 3-4 model years to choose from. Those that already own one must know that their car has been out for several years. Those that were holding out for a coupe or convertible must have already bought a BMW, MB, or Audi TT/A5... Who is going to get this 12 months from now when it arrives?

For those that think the current sedan is a squeak-mobile, what kind of noxious grunts, groans, ticks, pops, thumps, etc will be emanating from a far less rigid structure with more moving parts? It may not be pretty and it is something that should be considered when looking at this car. I'll have to see this thing in person, but for most of America that doesn't live in moderate climes a convertible like this is pretty much useless for most of the time. It is a very niche market product, and to my eyes a very soft looking product, certainly not in the performance direction of the IS 350 and IS-F. They probably won't make much money with this project, but it is something they had to do to keep up with BMW and Infiniti. Lexus is getting to be a very conflicted company, just what direction does it want to go? This is just another 'me too' product in a very crowded field.
