has anybody tried out the factory alarms on their unit yet? will i did recently, and it SUCKED.

i had a friend unlock the door from the inside and open the door from the inside (keyfob is outside the vehicle and car is locked).

both scenarios and the alarm did NOT go off nor did i get any notifications in my lexus app. i'm really disappointed that lexus couldn't do better especially for the premiums that they're charging for their vehicles.

i wanted to write this thread so that you fellow owners out there are aware of the vulnerability of our sweet machines.

That’s weird because I was getting gas with my kid in the car. I got out, opened the gas cap, locked the car and while I was filling up my kid opened the door and the alarm went off.

Now I tell her not to open the door when getting gas. She just yells at me now through the open sun roof lol.

Same thing here. I had a friend in the car, I unlock the doors to unlock the gas door then by habit lock the doors as I start gassing up and my friend decided to get off and get a drink. The alarm went off as expected and attracted way too much attention and suspicion .

There are some customizable settings in Techstream related to when it sounds the alarm when unlocking manually. a Launch Creader Elite can change it and maybe the Carista app can do it too

Does the car have to fully shut down first?

Didn't even know this car has an alarm system but it's good to know.

If you leave the car running and lock the doors, it doesn’t assume you’re setting the alarm. So yes, must be shut down

After locking the doors, passengers have 30 seconds to exit without sounding the alarm.

After locking the doors, the security light will illuminate for 30 seconds. Once the security light starts flashing, the alarm is active/set.
