I took mine off, cleaned and waxed to make easier later on. Worked so far

 

I found a lot of scrubbers on Amazon for just that purpose of washing the inside barrel of wheels, but many have a metal core that hold the bristles in place and many report scratching their wheels in the process . NO THANK YOU! I'll keep looking and might just build my own,

 

I use 2 of these and clean my barrels anytime I wash the car as part of washing the wheels.

Thanks for the link. I just ordered those; the bristles look denser than others I saw online.
