I dont think anyoje needs justification why you do what you do. Its an open forum to ask questions. I think the OP was jusy curious. Even if that reason was, you dont like cd players.

I probably should have been more specific in the title. I think this thread certainly can apply to both a trade-in value as well as a sale price.

But, although this was an outright sale offer, I am sure the Lexus dealer would have honored it as a trade-in value if (for example) I had wanted to purchase a 2025 IS500. I mean, their value was printed right across the top of the page in big numbers.

One question though -- theoretically speaking -- if I was to put up the 2023 IS500 with 11.5K on the odometer, everything on the car being perfect (no dings, scrapes, blemishes, and so forth), do folks think that the $49.3K offer price from the dealer is low, or pretty much market? I'm just curious as to what the current market price is on these cars, in a general sense.

The only thing I can find are a few cars that have gone for sale on Cars & Bids:

That $49.3k is way low imo.

Agreed. Way too low. What does KBB say for your car? I’d ask for that. They are low balling you for sure.

For $h1ts and giggles, I did the KBB thing. We ARE NOT in any way interested in selling or trading in our IS500. Here's the values that came up.

I got $63K Trade-In for my '22 Launch Edition with 20k Miles. MSRP was $68k & Needed 4 new tires & front rotors & pads. I did the Trade Jan 2023.
I got $63,500 for my '23 Ultra White with 8k miles MSRP was $66k. I did the trade out of state June 2023 for my current Infrared.

The Market has definitely shifted & trade-in's much lower now.

@Moonman89
What did they sell those for? Those are the prices they would have listed. Hard to believe the places you traded the cars in were ok with taking a loss on both cars you traded in

My Launch Edition was on the Lexus lot for less than a week as a CPO. I recall at the time 2 years ago it was one of the only few CPO Launch Edition for sale in the country & my sales guy had calls all over the country for it. they sold it for very close to msrp to a out of state buyer in NY. I don't know what happened to the Ultra white which was also a CPO it did sit for a long time on the Lexus lot unlike the LE. Here is the last pic I took of my former Launch Edition before it was shipped to NY.

^ damn, that must have been a time where 500s were very scarce. Wish I sold my other 500 during that time

^^ The Covid Era car market is gone. I had a '21 STI Limitied that I bought brand new April 2021 I traded my '19 STI for it & broke very close to even. Forward to Jan 2022 when I traded the '21 STI for the '22 Lunch Edition. Lexus gave me $40k trade-in. That is good considering I got the '21 STI under msrp & before taxes for $41,500. They ended up selling the STI locally for $44k in one week had 15k miles. That is more than what I paid brand new.

IS500s were very scarce pretty much for the 2022 and most of 2023, to be honest.

We bought our 2023 in ~March 2023, and had a hell of a time finding ours. We ended up getting it at Bobby Rahal Lexus in Mechanicsburg PA. It was a fully loaded one because it had been ordered for the Philadelphia Car Show and other shows in the region, so they pretty much loaded it up. We negotiated hard and got a good deal off of MSRP.

No dealer in NoVa, MD or DC area would deal on an IS500, and most of them didn't even have any. They were ridiculous to deal with, and we were happy to go to PA to get our car.
