People will be rewarded for their patience, we are already over 3,000 IS500s in two model years. This is a niche car. As such, the sword cuts both ways: limited production, but limited buyer pool.
For OP, I was trying to cut a deal on an Iridium with white interior at Lexus of Beverly Hills. It was listed at $2450 below MSRP and I liked it didn't have the BBS optional wheels. Total price was $62410 I believe. In the end, they would not finance me because the car was going to come back to Texas for registration and title. My own credit union would not pay them until it was titled which I was going to do back here in Texas. They suggested if I knew anyone in Cali that I register the car in Cali then drive it back to Texas and reregister it there. I didn't want to do that for many reasons including the higher sales taxes in Cali over Texas so passed on the car.

That's the stupidest thing ever. I purchased my car out-of-state (New Mexico) and don't remember it being that complicated. It was never registered in New Mexico for a second. The dealership office took care of all the paperwork and sent it to my local California DMV. I just had to do a vehicle inspection and go and pick up the plates.
I'm wondering if this is some bogus California tax law Newsome is imposing on dealerships. Wouldn't surprise me. What a piece of garbage. We had a chance to recall him and y'all blew it.

I agree completely. I think it was the dealership that didn't want to do any of the above, they said it wasn't worth their while. In 2020 I bought a MB E450 wagon in Akron Ohio and it was the same as your experience. They did all the paperwork and I had to do the inspection and then got plates in the mail. I guess Beverly Hills Lexus didn't want to do the work.

100% agree. The dealership were a$$ hats plain and simple. 🤬 I picked mine up in 2022 (OKC) for roughly the same $62K price, handed over the Dealer Funding Request form, drove it back to Atlanta, and paid the $4K fees and taxes to Georgia. Bim bam boom.
I'm sorry, what? How does this only have 6 miles? Was it towed literally everywhere it spent its life?
Also, they couldn't wipe the sweat off the inside of the driver door when they were shooting the photos? If they want to charge premium prices for their cars, they need to do better.
That’s exactly right. I had several dealers cave on the add-ons. It was actually pathetic and I got to the point I wouldn’t even talk to a dealer once they made it clear they did that stuff.
You guys are so lucky in the states with this car you have no idea! There are presently 6 cars for sale/available in all of Canada, by comparison to your 50 within a 100 mile radius within so call alone. Not only that, they are all selling for 5-15% ABOVE MSRP, not below. And there is zero negotiation generally. People essentially test drive them here and turn them back in again after 3000-10000 kms, and they actually go up in value due to their rarity.
I am being told for me to order one now I’ll be waiting 6-12 months for arrival.

Good grief! Have you looked into buying one in the States? With the taxes and additional fees, does it come out more or less than what you’ve seen locally?

It isn't worth buying in the US and taking a vehicle back to Canada. Firstly, the exchange rate between CAD and USD is 25%, so right there it makes it expensive. Then Canada has some minor but unique vehicle regulations which have to be addressed which can add to the costs before the vehicle can be driven on Canadian roads. Finally, sales tax on cars in Ontario is at 13%. Add all this up and it probably isn't worth the effort, time and expense. Also, dealers in Canada won't warranty a car purchased in the US to prevent this exact thing from happening. I lived in Canada for eight years and went to university in Toronto.

Yikes you’re right, not worth the effort. Well it was a thought, the Libertarian in me hates being locked in like that…

All of Fleuger99’s points are valid and accurate. I guess I’ll just have to wait it out with my hands crossed and by that time hopefully gas prices haven’t gone up to $2.50/L for premium ($9.50/US GAL) 🤷🏻♂️.
I have been looking on Autotrader (which include a majority of new, or yet to arrive vehicles at this point) almost every day since 2022, and so far, I have seen ONE caviar on black, and ONE Cloudburst on black. The former sold the day after it was posted on trader (in Edmonton Alberta, I wanted to have it shipped here) and the grey one was posted a few days ago locally here but they are asking $83,000 CDN, which is 5g above MSRP. MSRP has jumped from $73,500 to 78,000 for no reason, everything has stayed the same on the ‘23 model since it came out earlier this year. We get absolutely screwed here in every way. 😩
