To me, the Fitcamx would be the one I would go once I can get off my tushy and get one, whether for my Lexus or our Corolla
I'm pretty sure they're just playing it safe. Definitely hard to beat at the price ($159) and also a coupon on Amazon.

Use a good trim removal tool and you'll be fine.

It all comes apart (and goes back together) fairly easy. The Fitcamx comes with new trim that has room to tuck their harness, so you don't need to do any tugging on the headliner.

As long as you handle the headliner with kid gloves, you shouldn't have any issues. They even provide a zip ties and few pieces of foam tape to wrap around the plugs so they don't rattle when they come in contact with other components.

I would give it a 2 out of 10 difficulty rating. My local Lexus dealer wanted $450 plus $300 to install this thing. It's definitely not an hour long job. One thing I would do differently....when you install the mounting bracket, make sure there are no bubbles on the other side. Go out and look at it. I didn't do that and from outside the car, it looks like it's not perfectly sealed against the windshield.

I failed to say earlier that with the I paid $350....the price included the harness that normally costs $40 at the parts counter. Fitcamx includes the harness in their bundle for $168...so it's a better deal overall. If their Amazon ad didn't say "DOES NOT FIT 2023", I would have purchased it without hesitation.
Probably a bit too late but I chatted with a rep on the actual Fitcamx website regarding the Amazon product detail inconsistency with what's on their direct website. The product on their website states "2017-2023" IS so I sent her pictures of an IS 350 rearview mirror and its housing. She then confirmed it would fit and to buy it directly from Fitcamx just to be safe. Seeing that there are no actual changes in the rearview mirror from 2022 to 2023 models I don't see why it wouldn't be compatible physically and electronically on an IS 500 as well.
The only downside is shipping so I paid $19 more for expedited.

I have one as well. Kinda backwards having it on the passenger side than the driver side if you ask me. Gotta dip my head underneath the rearview mirror to see what button to press if I want to lock the footage, etc. I put my aftermarket OEM on my RAV4 on the driver side and it's so much more user-friendly

my Lexus dash cam has an SD card and I’ll hit action and i hear all the beeps and see lights indicating recording but whenever I connect the Lexus dashcam app to the integrated Wi-Fi that comes with the dash cam I have no files available for download. I’ve read the manual in and out and probably need to go back to dealer but anyone have any luck transferring/Downloading the videos? Maybe I should try the desktop software version.

Yea, that's strange. Idk if it's standard but I have to manually connect the dashcam and phone via Wifi every time I try to access the videos. Sometimes I have to attempt the connection 2-3 times to is the inconvenience

Same thing for me and the Wifi won’t work/signal not strong enough from inside my garage.

Yea, that's the downside. I think you have to be pretty damn close to connect to the dashcam and download the videos.

Make sure you're in the browse folder in the first tab and not in the available for download area.

This is by design. The WiFi signal is not active until you physically turn it on. Lexus should have used the vehicles internal radio for this.

I looked at a few of my files and calculated they each second is approximately 1MB. Two-minute segments would be approximately 120MB each. With that in mind, I would only transfer files via the SD card using the desktop software. That part works well. I installed a 256GB card and it is performing well.

I wonder if it's a JDM thing. The driver's side would be on the right side of the car, and it would make a lot more sense to have the dashcam over there.

Do you by chance have windshield tint? I just got my fitcamx delivered but also have tint scheduled. I'm wondering if the windshield tint would obstruct or mess with the dashcam or if tint should be installed first or vice versa

Was wondering if you have the instructions for the dashcam install on the IS. I am unable to find it anywhere. Many thanks!

I’m using the garmin mini 2/3 and also bought the obd2 adapter. It has three modes for 10min, 24hr, and on constantly, the box says it’ll turn off if the voltage dips too low. Super easy install and no messing with the fuse box!
