About 2 months ago the display screen in my 2015 IS250 F-Sport started to flicker. About 5 days later it went completely black. However, the backup camera feature still works just fine with no distortion or issues whatsoever. My "radio" works just fine i.e volume, channels, Bluetooth, satellite, steering wheel controls EVERYTHING. The screen is just black making it impossible to access the internal controls.
On Tuesday (8/16/22) I took it into Lexus of Mobile, AL for diagnostics. Dropped it off at 10:30 am. Went back at 3:30 and was told that the radio unit needs to be replaced which would run around $2500.00. After speaking with my service advisor, I decided to look into an aftermarket unit since mine is no longer under warranty and I want to add navigation.
Fast forward to today, I went to a local audio shop picked out and purchased a unit. When he showed me what it looked like online, we realized that it was infact not for the F-Sport as my dash is completely different. Called my advisor back and asked for the part number that needed to be replaced to see it United Radio could possibly fix mine. After 4 hours, I called the parts line directly and explained the black screen. I was giving a part number for the screen (86110-53022). Finding one literally took me hours! I found one from a salvage yard and planned on stopping by tomorrow to pay for it. I just opened my email and found what my advisor sent. According to him, I need to replace the radio unit (lower portion) to fix the screen issue. The part number he provided is 86140-53260. I have brought the discrepancy to his attention, so I'll report back if anything changes.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Does this sound right? Wouldn't a burned out radio not produce sound? I don't see how they are related. I still think there's a short to the screen OR the screen needs to be replaced, not the main radio unit itself. The screen is also back to flickering since my appointment 2 days ago.

Checked all fuses, removed radio and display unit checked all connections, found the radio head unit has a internal failure. Needs a radio head unit.

Dealership, Stealership. You would more than likely have a fault code. But there is a slight chance the head unit has become faulty. There was another person on this forum which had the same issue after leaving their car without use for a few months. There is a battery drain power on these cars. Here is how to reboot the navigation/display screen:
1. Remove the battery terminals for positive and negative
2. Leave the battery unplugged for 30 minutes to an hour (may actually require less time but this is how long we waited)
3. Press the Start button once to turn on the accessory/battery mode (DO NOT HAVE YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND START THE CAR). *If you start the car the screen will still remain black and you will have to start over
4. Press the PWR/VOL button to turn on the Radio
5. The display screen will light up and show a progress bar showing it is loading the information from the SIM card. Once this completes the system will reboot and the display will light up as normal.
Hope this helps!
