Default Dealer repainted console without my permission

Hi guys

,

I am new to the community. And today something odd happened to my IS350 after bringing into the shop for scratch restoration. There was a stain that I couldn't wipe off in the center console chrome part and I was told that it is probably not covered by the smart program package i bought. After getting my car back today i found that piece of plastic spray painted in a ugly silver paint likely from homedepot. I didn't even give them permission to do that, is it me or is this absolutely wrong??? Did they really think I couldn't catch that??

Looks really bad, full of dust and debris contamination. Also a top coat is missing as well.

Did they spray paint the other side as well? You should ask them to pay for the OEM piece and then you can replace it yourself. They are about $180 EACH.

If they are a Lexus Dealer, they should be able to order the parts. Lexus corporate will never recommend spray painting like that. 100% dealers fault.

no, they didn't spray the other side. It's so awful I want to puke! I going to talk with my adviser tomorrow since they are closed now. I just cant believe it could go so wrong.

Likely you'll get a brand new piece out of them. If I were you, I wouldn't go back there for any detailing work, looks like it's run by a bunch of DIY kids who would do more harm to your car than good.

I do have a suspicion that they used an abrasive compound to try to get the stain off, however it ruined the plastic completely. In panic mode, the guy/kid ran off to home depot and got a silver spray can to cover up his tracks.

Anyhow, welcome to the Forum.

Looks like that part snaps in don't have to replace the entire console. Don't know your year (they could be all the same) this is just an example

It's extremely obvious to the naked eye immediately without even reading your post. That's a horrible paint job. You can see the edges too where it's not even. did you sign anything authorising then to do such a repair? see what you signed

For sure the dealer shouldnt not have done that without your consent. They now should be liable for getting you a replacement part so theoretically the problem fixed itself due to their negligence.

No i didn't authorize them to do anything without my permission. I was told that it may not be covered and i said its ok if its not covered under the appearance protection package by smart program. I asked them to inform me of any additional charges required before doing anything. I authorize them to repair all my complaints according to the smart program's guidelines. And spray painting an OEM interior part is definitely not one of them lol.

Question Ceramic paint maintenance suggestions

Thanks for all the support everyone, and for welcoming me to this lovely community. I will be talking with the adviser tomorrow, hopefully, they hold themselves accountable without finding excuses to deny their mistakes. I also went in to let them check on my ceramic paint that was done when I first purchased the vehicle in 2019 (I purchased the appearance protection coverage for the coating). I told them that it wasn't beading much and to me, it doesnt seem like they did much to restore it... I read some article online saying that ceramic coating should never be polished, yet on the report, they polished the vehicle after the scratches were removed...are they doing their job correctly? I thought they are supposed to clean it with some sort of ceramic conditioner? Any thoughts?

Polished after the scratches were removed? Then how did they remove the scratches? You should not use any dealership for detailing find a good independent shop.
