Default K&N Typhoon Air Intake kit for 3IS?

I know the part number 69-8701TP kit is designed for the 2IS but despite being nearly identical under the hood, they don’t fit 2014+ according to their website and every other retailer that carried the part.

So I was wondering if any of you guys have put the K&N typhoon kit in your 2014+ IS and if you had any issues.

I have an absolute dire need for induction sounds and I can’t go another mile without it. I NEED this kit but I want to make sure it could fit before copping one.

I would not buy that. You won’t get any additional sound. I had purchased this for my 2013 GS. It uses the factory filter box. On my 2016 GS, I went with Takeda. That’s what I would recommend.

The product page on K&N shows a cone-style air filter, and I see photos of this online where the factory box is not present. Do you have any photos?

I fail to see how this would provide any less sound than stock - unless, of course, you have the Intake Sound Generator on your stock IS. That thing adds a lot of sound and would be deleted when this intake is installed.

Apologies. I was under the impression that the GS and IS use the exact same engine. If the Typhoon for the IS removes the factory box, then yeah, that will create a nice roar.

You actually lost some hp and tq with that cone. The TB will limit opening unless you have a ECU Tune that modifies and fools the MAF.
