Think of it like a differential, there is a drain plug and a fill plug...that's it.
Technically the tranny has a drain plug, fill plug, and an overfill plug (used to adjust the fluid level).

For my car I do a drain and fill every 50K kms...which it's actually due for now.
I'm planning to do mine at 80000 km, is that too late?

I just a drain and refill twice at 127,000 miles. You should be okay.

the dealership that is local to me said that a drain and fill is recommended at 100k miles but i feel like that's pushing it. i mean, they deal with these vehicles daily, so i dunno, but looking at the intervals for other vehicles needing transmission fluid replacement, 100k miles isn't typically, if ever, the first service interval point.

I guess it depends IMO. I never particularly had a transmission issue just slow and jerky shifts. First drain and refill i did was at 90k and 2nd and 3rd at 127k to get majority of old fluid out (all done at Lexus). Since then shifts just like new. But i have also owned car since 30k. Others have done it at 160k+ and reported no issues.

If i had to do it again, prob would have done it around 60k and done another one at 100k.

Hi guys, planning to do my ATF fluid change soon and have one question after watching quite alot of videos. I intend to put all four wheels on wheel cribs and use an offset 24mm wrench to undo the fill plug, will that work coz I'm abit lazy to remove the wheel. Thx..

Yes. You’ll want a wrench with only a slight offset since the area is really tight (flat wrench won’t fit)
