I went to see if the new harness is O.K. and if it works without the screen. Anyway, i plugged in the harness only, turned on car, everything fine. I then slowly reconnected all wires to the back of the new screen (one by one) and turning on car to see if everything is O.K. after each one.
Everything seems to work fine, the new screen works and the 7.5 amp fuse is not blowing up. The only difference between the times that the fuse was blowing up and now is the fact that the harness was inside the radio/screen compartments. I think it's just what you said in one of your previous posts, something must be touching something to cause a short circuit, the only question remains is what it could be? Will i just insulate all the wires, what do i use to insulate them with, black electrical tape or something?
Another issue that I've encountered is that i am struggling to fit in this new screen. The factory screen fixes in perfectly, while the new one does not. It seems to have a bigger back end compartment that gets stuck somewhere.
You can see the two bus connectors that came with the screen. Ends of the connectors had a letter which corresponded to the same letter of the wire that needed to be inserted. I don't know much about this and why they are required if at all. Hopefully you can comment. The CAN BUS modules allow the unit the be integrated into the vehicles communication system so that it can interact with the vehicle and vice versa.
This way it can pull different information from different systems to display on screen...without having to be directly connected to those systems as the information flows through the CAN BUS wires.
This is an interesting one. I initially though that this was some sort of indicator that would light up once connected, after looking at it closely it turned out to be a 10 AMP fuse, dumb me. Do you think this could have something to do with the fact that the 7.5 amp fuse was blowing when it was connected (i.e. because amp on device is bigger than the in car)? As you have a dead short the fuse Amperage doesn't mean anything. Also, without a wiring diagram you don't know if that 10A fuse is connected to the same circuit as the 7.5A fuse. And it would be a pretty bad design to put a larger fuse later in a circuit after a smaller fuse. Fuses are largest nearest to the battery and get smaller as you get further away. If you had the smaller fuse closest to the battery, then it would always blow first, making the rest of the larger fuses in the circuit useless cause they would never blow. The white connector (middle right hand side) is where you plug your old monitor harness into)My personal opinion is that the issue is on either side of this connector. I would suggest removing the 7.5A ECU-ACC fuse and installing the harness only without the screen connected...then insert the fuse. If it blows the issue is the harness. If it doesn't blow then connect one connector at a time to the screen...every time you insert a connector check the fuse to see if it blows. At some point the fuse will blow when you insert a connector, and this would likely mean the screen is the issue. the long black wire (further to the left of the previously mentioned connector) has some sort of sim inserted at the end, not sure. It's likely a micro SD card for storage. The blue connector is where you plug in your secondary cable from the original OEM screen into. That's your video signal wire.

I see you posted this while I was compiling my long response above lol!
Obviously we were on the same page as to how to diagnose this...good job on your part!
I would tape any exposed wires or metal connectors with electrical tape to be sure...assuming the harness does not have an internal short.
As to the fitment of the screen, unfortunately I can't help you much there.
Will try later today if i have time or tomorrow. Still have to figure out how i will fit this new screen in, watched lots of youtube videos of similar screens being fitter as easy as the factory original screens. My one is a bit different.
Anyway, thanks for all your help so far, will keep you in the loop on my progress.
Just in case the harness has an internal short, once everything is taped up and installed, and working properly, try wiggling and moving the harness best you can to be sure nothing shorts out at that point.
So i managed to find some time to see if could finally install this thing. So i get to the car, all happy and exited and then i i thought i would try and fit the screen in first before doing any wiring. It's just like what i said before, it does not fit. The original OEM screen has the back of the screen unit chamfered off so that it properly fixes in and you can hear it click on all four sides. I managed to get the bottom section of the new screen in but the top part is impossible. There is this plastic fitting that's in the way. I could cut it off to make room, the screen would be covering the cut, but i really don't want to do that.
i don't understand, why do people sell things and say that they are fit for purpose when they are not. Holy moly this is annoying. The seller clearly stated that this screen is compatible with is250 is300, is300h, but it's not because it does not fit!
Not sure what to do, will likely have to send it back. I won't be destroying my car just so i can fit it in.
In North America our IS launched in 2014, unlike where you are which got the same vehicle in 2013.
I noticed on the back of the unit is has a label that says "LEXUS/IS 13-17".
For us, the 2014-2016 screens where all the same, but Lexus changed them in 2017 to have a 10.3 inch for the Navi model, and a smaller screen for the non-Navi model.
I wonder if your screen will fit a 2017 just fine.
Ask them if the have install instructions or video for the screen. A lot of these screen manufacturers have install instructions in some form.
Not sure about the 2017 is300h model. From car ads the screen seems the same size.
There is this plastic piece within the screen compartment that's in the way, if that was not there i could fit it in. I could cut it and sand it down using a fine grit sand paper. It would be hidden anyhow, not sure, what do you think? See photo below of the piece i am referring to. All lexuses that i've seen installing the 10.25 screen have this piece (i.e 300, 250, 300h). This is why on all the other screens i've seen the back of the screen module is recessed down further from the top edge of the screen or is chamfered.
I asked for instructions, but unless this piece somehow folds (which i don't think it does) i can't fit it in without making a cut.
Was lookong through sellers inventory. Found another screen, looks very similar and that states that it is intended for 300h also. Did not think much about it until i saw the feedback one custuner left. See photod below, looks like he was having exact same issue, with the screen not fitting. Really annoying.
Yeah, same here. Opened a dispute, sending it back. Will put another one on order. Was looking at Carsoll, they have a similar one if they ship to Ireland.
What do you have in your lexus? Seen that you drive an is250? Stock or did you upgrade?
Just the stock infotainment system with Navigation.
Seems like the good Android units near me are $1,100CAD ($750 Euros)
One of the more popular ones is from a company about 25 minutes away from me. https://4x4shop.ca/product/2014-2019...sb-multimedia/
Finally sorted this out, bough a new screen from a different supplier. Fitted it in about 20 minutes, works great, no issues. Thanks for all the help Sasnuke.
