The TPMS light starting coming on months ago, even though I check the tire pressure regularly and it is fine.
When my car had regular maintenance done about three months ago, the shop said there is nothing wrong.
The light was off when I got the car back and then came back on some days later. It goes on then off for days
at a time. It was on for a few weeks again recently, then today went off. I checked tire pressure over the weekend.
The person who checked it out at the shop was the kid who takes your information at the front desk, so
I'm not convinced his information is accurate. I'm not looking to take it in anywhere right away, but would
like to know what is actually going on. At this point, it's just a random light and is not helpful. Thanks!
Then it could only be that the reference PSI is wrong. Get them all to 36psi, then "reset" the system using the button under the steering column, this will reset the reference psi to what they currently are set at. Might not work, but worth the try (that procedure is explained in the owners manual)

^^ Agreed...this is the most likely explanation as to why the light is coming on and to resolve it.
Never seen this in a Toyota product but Hondas are notorious for doing this. Had this happen in my family's Accord and Civic. Usually, it meant that one of the sensors were on their way out, that or it's not sitting properly.
