Default Lexus extended warranty

I am on the fence about purchasing the Lexus extended warranty for an IS. My biggest concern are the electronics and mechanics . I am planning to keep the car till the wheels falls off. For the IS owners, did you have any major repairs about the factory warranty expired?

I bought an extended warranty on my Prius 12 years ago and always regretted it until about 4 years in my multi function display died due to a bad solder. The $1900 repair was completely covered by warranty so I guess I broke even in the end. Most people don’t buy extended warranties for Toyota and Lexus but the electronics can be a hit or miss just like you’re thinking about. If I had to do it again, I would not get the warranty and worry about repairs later when they come up cause most likely you’ll break even if anything.

What year IS do you have? I think if you have the 2014 model you should for the radio. I've had my 2015 IS (bought it used at 10K miles) it's at 60K with no issues.

At this point may as well wait for 2022. Sometimes the first year of a refresh has issues compared to later years.

you don't have to buy it now. You can buy it anytime up until factory warranty expires . You have 4 years or 50,000 miles until you have to decide. Also cross shop with as many lexus finance departments as you can. I bought one for my 2010 from Jim Falk Lexus. They beat everyone else back then by $1000 on a 7 year/100k Lexus platinum warranty.
