Default Paint protection

Hello everyone;

I have a question about the paint protection that Lexus offers when you buy a new car;

I am currently in the middle of getting a new Lexus and they are offering me and bunch of different options to protect the car and I was wondering if
the paint protection is actually worth getting it costs $600 CDN

Thank you for any input you can provide

$600 CDN? That must be just door edge guards and maybe the rear bumper appliqué? True clear bra that you would want would cover the whole front bumper, part or all of the hood, front fenders and side mirrors. That kind of protections goes for well over $1200 here in the states.

You must be talking about a ceramic coating? That stuff works good for detailing purposes but does nothing for actual paint protection you would need from driving down the highway and stuff hitting the car.

What exactly are they offering? If it’s not PPF, hard pass.

Worth it even if just front clip kit. If your gonna commute and highway driving it save you front end front tons of chips. At that price it maybe a cheap kit they use that run about 200-300 US. I elect to do my full front end coverage whole hood, whole fender and bumper. But I did mine myself to save cost and bought a full roll to practice if I messed up. Plus you can always go find an installer yourself.

Application

Finish product

My 2021 IS car is being delivered within the next two weeks and I’m trying to decide whether I want get Xpel PPF on the car. I’ve watched the installation process and it looks messy. I’m picky about what people will do to the car so I don’t really get any mods done. If I do go for it, I’d prolly just do the front bumper and hood because I don’t want them to remove any panels, emblems, etc. How do they prevent that adhesive stuff from getting in the engine bay? Does the PPF block any of the sensors on the front bumper?

I wouldn't worry about the mess it just baby soap and water. No difference from washing your car with soap. As for the sensor part they cut that piece out and same goes with emblems. As most use software that are plotted on the machine.

Preventive care, quality washing, and a regular application of consumer-grade detailing ceramic waxes/sprays are fine enough. But if you DO do PPF, PLEASE DIY. Do not pay someone thousands to strip apart your car and apply plastic to it. Not worth it.

Also I've found I get less rock chips with an even simpler mod than PPF: age.

I drive less aggressively than I used to, more calm on the road, and stay behind cars further. i don't really get rock chips. Just sayin'! PPF won't save you from that ladder dropped in the road.. so that's a benefit to driving calmer too!
