Default Winter Wheels With No TPMS

Hey guys,

Have a 2021 IS and winter tire season is right around the corner for some of us in the North. Wondering if anyone here runs a winter wheel setup with no TPMS? I understand there will definitely be some lights on the dash, but anything extremely annoying?

Thanks!

I run winters without TPMS sensors...the light will either be on or flashing, depending on how long you are driving in one trip.
Honestly I don't even see it anymore...even though it's on (my mind just ignores it).

Thanks for the reply.

Good to know it's just a light. A light I can deal with. If it also chimes and talks to me I can see it getting annoying after a while. My previous car (GTI) didn't use an in-tire TPMS and I was actually pretty thrown back by the price of them. Hope the 2021 doesn't act any differently than your car!

I believe on the 2021 they allow you to program the TPMS sensors yourself, so you wouldn't need to take the vehicle to a dealer for that function at least.

@Sasnuke Circling back on this one.

Regarding programming the TPMS on the 2021's - do you happen to have a link to the online manual about that so I can read more about it? I had the link somewhere a while ago, but can't seem to find it.

Wondering if there might be an option in there somewhere to disable the system altogether.

The TPM initialization procedure is on page 310 of the 2021 IS manual. It worked perfectly for my new sensors, although I did need to drive for a few miles for the replacement sensors to register. There is no option to disable the system.
