Nav Problem
2015 IS250, Researched how to update the nav system, bought a new Micro Chip, started the process, and bam. Did not get the correct response. Nav data not being updated. I was at the dealer's location and they basically did not have a clue. It was a simple plug-and-play update. I knrew that, I had reviewed the process very carefully. They told me to shut down and put the old chip back in the car. Mentioned that the update procedures stated that you should not shut down in the middle of an update. They stated that there was no other option unless I wanted to leave the car for them to work on. I was 40 miles from my home and could not wait. and had to get home. They again said to shut it down with the old chip that helped me navigate to their location.. So I shut the engine down, removed the new chip and put the old chip back in, and restarted. Guess what! Now I have no nav and other problems with the display. Lacking anything else to do I returned home. The dealer did return my money, but now what. Any thoughts. Oh. one other thing. When I did remove the old chip it did not come out easily. I pushed it in, felt the catch release, and had to use more effort than I should have used to remove the old chip, but it did come out using my thumbnail. Thoughts, recommendations.
Here's my suggestion:
- Remove the micro SD card
- Disconnect the battery Negative terminal for at least 10 minutes (15-20 minutes is fine)
- Reconnect the battery terminal and start the car...it may stall the first time you start it, but that's normal, just start it again
- Watch the display screen, and when it prompts you, insert the micro SD card
