Merry Christmas y’all. There’s been a big snow storm where I live with snow about 3 feet. Recently after driving I noticed that while reversing my car makes a loud grinding sound, sounds like metal on metal.
when driving it goes a way a little but still there, it’s mainly when reversing, it’s very loud.
Is it while braking? Rust forms when wheels are exposed to moisture so it will make a grinding noise as the rust gets grinded off. Typically goes away after a couple of braking events.
It happens when I’m driving , not while braking. It’s louder when I’m going slower. It’s coming from the front left wheel. May be the brake shield, I’m gonna have a look when i get a chance. Something is definitely making contact
Dumb question: do you keep your car outside? My son’s BMW sits outside. Got a ton of snow here as well. It was making the exact same noise. Scared him-so I checked on it.
He had ice/snow packed—really packed—around one wheel. It’s been so cold it didn’t even melt after driving. Took to an auto car wash with warm water. Problem went away.
