Chip shortage will be a major problem for quite a while I'm afraid. It was already an issue but covid has made it worse. I work for TMM. Production has been slashed by 40%. Toyota survived and thrived at the beginning of the shortage due to requiring some suppliers to stock pile 6 months of supply incase there are supply issues. Chips were among that requirement. That supply is gone now. Some are saying this can be an issue into 2023. God I hope not. That is a sharp color combo. Congrats!

update from 2 days ago.

Due to a shortage of certain parts caused by the spread of COVID-19 in Southeast Asia, Toyota is making further adjustments to our production operations for September, and is reviewing our production plans for October. As for September, it is in addition to the adjustment of production operations announced on Aug. 19 (Adjustments to Domestic Production in September). We sincerely apologize to our customers and suppliers for any inconvenience that may be caused by these changes.

He told them that they cannot call me to ask me that of course. They did tell me that this color combination is rare due to the chip shortage and there were only 6 in the whole US. Lexus cancelled my original order for this car 2 weeks ago due to that chip shortage. He told me that they have a stop build order for 1 month.(Not sure how true that is) While there, I noticed that they had 6 Atomic Silver IS's out front but no other colors. Im assuming it's not a popular color. I lucked out because the dealer had this one coming in since July and the original buyer backed out.
Very nice. Exact same color combo as mine. Such a great presence on the road. Looks great with tinted windows. Congrats!

Yes, I made an appointment for Wednesday to get them tinted. I don't know if I should do carbon or ceramic. The shop I made the appointment at, says those are the only ones I can choose from as they don't use lower quality tints. I gotta do research.

Those are the same two we use in our shop. I always do ceramic on our personal cars. Nothing wrong with a carbon tint, but it doesn't reject the heat of a ceramic film. What brand do they use?

Just took delivery of my special order car yesterday...placed the order in May, just before the chip shortage, so I got lucky! Absolutely thrilled with the 3T5 in person, and it's getting tons of compliments. Can't wait for the F Sport exhaust install...the stock setup isn't bad, but a little extra bite like the stainless catback on my other car would be nice.

For those wondering:
AWD, no moonroof, yes triple beams, yes nav, no ML. Trim plates, 3M 1/4 bra, all weather mats (instead of the liners), F Sport exhaust.

He said they use a product called Suntek. Is it any good?

That's beautiful. Congrats! Is that at Lexus of Rockville?

Sadly, I've only seen Infared at a glance. One passed me on a poorly lit stretch in Silver Spring one night. Completely caught me off guard. And no, I couldn't catch up to them. Lol

Thank you! Yessir, purchased from Lexus of Rockville...they gave me a great price and were most willing in the area to work with me on a special order.
With regards to the Infrared, it's definitely uncommon...seems like a lot of them in this area were decontented, as well, which is strange. I'd be curious which premium colors are seeing the highest take rates.

For the F-Sport exclusive colors, I'd say by most popular:

1. Ultra White
2. Infrared
3. Ultrasonic Blue Mica 2.0

We use SunTek in our shop. Yes it is good. The best? Probably not the best, but it's a good quality film and their customer service is TOP NOTCH! That's one of the many reasons we use them. But, if you get a ceramic film make sure your installer uses the CIR film and not the CXP. CIR is a full ceramic where as the CXP film is not. Both reduce heat quite a bit, but the CIR is a touch better.

I got the 20% CIR. Its nice and very clear when driving. My buddy owns the tint shop and said he normally charges $350 and up for that one. He did it for me for half the price.

We charge $295 for a 4 door sedan in our shop for CIR. A bit underpriced for sure, but we like repeat business, so we keep our prices on the lower side. Half off is a hell of a deal!
