Upgrade dash speakers on non-ml system
So I want to do a simple thing which is to replace the dash speakers for some higher quality ones. FYI I have the 6-speaker pioneer setup (no center speaker, no subwoofer) which I'm not sure is even available in the US. All I know is that it is REALLY bad.
Anyway, the easiest upgrade for someone who is a novice when it comes to this seems to be those corner dash speakers. I've been reading up a lot on it and I'm finding some... conflicting? information.
First of all there are a number of people who have swapped them out and are reporting good results.
But then there are also a few who are reporting that the dash speakers only play treble, which seems to be confirmed by the measurements in this post https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...-analysis.html
I'm thinking that that is probably the case, and just that not everyone has noticed this. What I'm interested in is that, given the built-in crossover, what is actually a good replacement for the dash speakers? is it possible to take advantage of the fact that the head unit is already applying a crossover, and is there something that should be avoided?
I'm thinking of getting these: (they are around 80$ in my country) because of their high sensitivity, considering I'm not planning an amp upgrade and I have no idea how powerful the stock HU is. Does that make sense?
Will the high sensitivity become an issue with stock door speakers and make the dash too loud in comparison? I haven't been able to find out the sensitivity ratings of the stock speakers. If I go this way I may install https://www.audison.eu/products/apx-6-5/ in the front doors.
I've also read good things online about but worried about that they might not fit. Might be too deep. Anyone who has done an upgrade and can share how "deep" speaker will fit?
Basically I'm interested in info from anyone who has done an upgrade that they are happy (or not happy) with :-)
