Yeah actually supposedly Lexus is paying you to get a rental car from I think it was Enterprise until there is a fix and it gets fixed even if you're not having issues. That's the memo that was shared on one of these threads here by one of the moderators. They aren't giving Lexus loaners since obviously there wouldn't be enough in this case.

I mean it's your choice. You can ride around in your 3IS this whole time until the fix is ready and hope your pump doesn't fail or you can drive a rental this whole time lmao. I'm not worried about the pump failing personally so I'm going to drive my 3IS until the fix is ready.

my cars listed on recall but it’s driving absolutely fine. I personally could not roll around in an economy car from Enterprise while I wait for a fix, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Yeah I’m pretty sure for the most part only people experiencing actual issues and those that are super paranoid are riding around in econobox cars for this recall event already lol.

Question

Paraphrasing the issue: "low pressure fuel pump malfunctions, causes rough engine running, resulting in a stalled vehicle, and unable to re-start", just wondering if this does in fact happen, and your car is "unable to re-start", does Lexus provide any mitigation until the actual remedy is available? Don't mean ONLY a loaner, but ALSO a temporary fix, like a different fuel pump, until they get the new ones?

Doubt it. They most likely don’t want to replace a faulty fuel pump with another faulty fuel pump which is why the fix isn’t available yet. They must be waiting for Denso to create a massive batch of quality fuel pumps.

Since my 2014 is in the group, and has run fine for the last 6+ years, I’m not concerned that it’s suddenly going to fail in the next few months.
I’ll keep using it until I can take it in for the replacement pump.

So my May Lexus Enform vehicle report is stating that there is a remedy available for the fuel pump issue. I wonder if it’s true. Anybody seeing that?

I checked online last week and saw the same. We'll see when I get my letter.

Yes...you can pretty much get a rental any time, but there is a cost limit per day.
One of the earlier posts I believe Jeff Lange indicated it was $40 or $45 a day...can't remember which.
I think they have a deal with Enterprise to supply a vehicle...it's not going to be as fancy as the IS, that's for sure.

Well that’s why I brought up the “Remedy Available” status. That to me would mean they are ready to fix it. I would call my local dealer in the US and ask but I’m over in Germany lol. I may call the local Lexus here and ask.

My dealer told me to expect repairs in mid-late June

Anybody know how big of a job it is to drop the fuel tank and replace the low pressure pump?
Sounds pretty big.
