Default Good technical IS article

Looking around for design specs of the 3 gen IS and I came across this article.
I have owned a lot of different cars and I like to dig into the designs. I have to say the German cars have a lot more Infiniti there than Japanese as far as design in my opinion.
I really like the engineering of the IS but would like more info.
anyway here is the link

Just a press release, but not bad. I remember being excited about this release back in 2014 and seeing the first one on the road, it was black. My thoughts were wow that looks sleek and dynamic. And the lights seemed to light the road nicely. Was impressed with the LED color.

Still think Lexus could've made the car a lot lighter. And they could've tuned the rear suspension better--one of my gripes with the car. This chassis has some capability. Overall though one of the last great handlers of this car class. Now cars are big.

It's heavy because of the luxury factors. All the motors, sound deadening, and beefy parts. Nearly a decade later we can now make cars lighter with reduced weight metals and components. Hopefully the next gen sheds weight by 200 lbs, which it very well could with new engine options.

Weight is a problem for all car makers. My thought is the crash test requirements. Back in the days of a crx for example. The car was light but I wouldn’t want to get hit by anything while driving it. I read tons of articles where the writers complain the car is too heavy but they are luxury sports right. Can’t have everything.
mid you keep the IS in its power band it’s fun to drive. Or if your just driving to work having your coffee it’s nice and relaxed. Hard to do both things. Lexus seems to lean towards the Mercedes end of the spectrum on purpose. That solid feel requires some weight and rigidity. I also have a SL55 talk about heavy ! Super quick though with the HP on tap. The Lexus IS actually more sporting in some ways.
