I never drove mine in the winter but when I had my two IS350 F Sport (AWD), they were always getting about 10L/100km on average between city/highway and my RC350 is getting the same. There is no doubt that the IS is not the most fuel efficient vehicle....It uses a 6 speed (in the AWD), heavy, and such....and it will vary from driver to driver. The fact I was consistently getting 10/100 for my 3 successive IS shows I am very consistent in my driving habits. Not the best efficiency but not the best....

I don't put a lot of mileage on my Lexus so the fuel efficiency is less an issue when I consider the annual mileage I put on it, so for me, I favored reliability and styling.

Can someone answer this for me?. I've seen a lot of comments on here about the quality of Costco gas(I'm not really trying to bring that debate up here). When I look at the list of top tier gas here: https://toptiergas.com/licensed-brands/ Costco is listed. So which is it?

In my experience, Costco gas has been fine. Moreover, Top Tier status doesn't mean the gas is top quality. All that certification means is that you're getting a certain amount of additives in the fuel. Some owners have seen issues with their Costco locations, but not all Costco's are created equally. It could even be a bad batch of gas or a water leak, which could happen at any gas station.

City (stop and go) driving really kills the mpg. I'm always at 14 mpg all year round, but get 19 mpg on a highway. Costco gas is awesome in my area so far and I don't see a considerable reason to switch back to Shell gas.

I'm always between 20 - 22 MPG mostly highway - 75% normal, 25% Sport or Sport + mode. Only refill at Costco.

I have 81,000km or 50k miles on mine, I over maintain it if anything also.

Straight highway I can get 9.9L/100km or 23.7Mpg. Stop n go/city mileage can be pretty appalling about 15L/100km or 15.6 mpg.

Your mileage is very close to mine. I also got instantly 10% better fuel economy by only using Esso and Shell V Power fuel (the only “Top Tier” certified gas stations in my city)

Make sure engine air filter is clean. Make sure you have correct tire pressure. Switch to Top Tier certified gas if you’re not using it now.

You can also reset the ECU which often times will help, I do it to mine every couple of months.

Also make sure you drive the car hard every now and then. If you’re doing tons of city driving make sure when you go on the highway you mash it. There have been a report or 2 of people building up carbon deposits. It’s good for the engine to rev.
you only get 9.9/100 on the highway? Wow. I drive in manual full trac disable sport s+ 100% of the time. And if I drive good I can definitely hit 8.0L/100. My average is between 10 and 11 for a tank. In the city I’ll average around 13L/100. 15L/100 if I can’t keep my lead foot off the pedal.

if you want to get the best mpg with our cars you need to learn how to manipulate the drive by wire throttle. I did extensive testing when I first got my car. It’s all about throttle position. I literally can get the same mpg in sport + as in eco.

also don’t use Costco gas it’s trash.

also our cars are not very good on fuel in the city. You just need to adjust driving habits and like I said learn how to manipulate the throttle so the bar graph stays under 10L/100.

that’s terrible. You need to stop using Costco gas. I noticed an extra 80km per tank extra, once I stopped using Costco gas. It doesn’t last as long.

wish I could say the same because Costco. Gas is almost 10 cents per liter cheaper.

but I’ve definitely noticed that it’s trash gas. Doesn’t last nearly as long as say chevron or shell.

Even a female friend of mine brought it up to me. And she don’t know **** about cars. But she did notice Costco gas wasn’t going as far as other gases.

I only use Esso and Shell. I’m also in Canada where it’s freezing 5-6 months of the year so that also affects economy.

I drive 50/50 city highway, first thing I do when the car starts is disable traction control and go into sport mode, I also drive like I stole it half the time. I’m averaging around 13L combined.
Straight highway cruising my cars never gotten better than around 9L.

what model do you have?

lol that’s how I drive too. I have a ‘14 350 awd f sport. I’m in Vancouver. So we have “winter blend” from about oct to march/April? I notice a definite decrease in mpg during the winter months.

my drive into work is 52km. About 35 of that is highway. When I get to work my trip is anywhere from 8.0 to 9.5. Generally I drive very good on the way to work, no rush. On the way home i can’t seem to keep it under 10L. I’m about 60-70% freeway. ~500kms Per tank. ~300km of that is freeway. In the summer I’ll prolly get more like 530-550 to a full tank. I don’t do excessive warm ups in the morning either, that just wastes fuel.

Maybe you need to figure out this drive by wire throttle. This could be the difference in our fuel economy...

Last as long? You mean, lasting as long sitting in the tank of your car? I daily drive my car, so I guess I wouldn't know about that.

If you mean fuel mileage, I haven't noticed any significant difference between Costco and the other places to which I go (namely, QuikTrip and Valero most of the time).

ive definitely noticed a difference in mpg between Costco gas and other “top tier” fuels. From the sounds of it from other threads I’ve read lots of people notice it too. I stopped using Costco gas because I would get fewer miles to the tank. Now that I use “better” gas my tanks are definitely going farther. About 40-50mi more per tank. The savings of Costco gas aren’t worth it to me.

I don't know why Costco gas would make a difference in mileage. All gas stations use gas from the same refineries.
The difference is additives. I'm sure what you're saying is true, but it makes no sense to me.

No I cant imagine Costco gas or any gas is going to make a difference in milage. Like you pointed out Jazzrock it's all the SAME gas just different addictives (sometimes).

One thing to note about Costco gas is that if your Costco is anything like the ones near me....you have 0% chance of getting old or stail gas. Those pumps are running non-stop from open to close lol.

I dont go there often but only dislike with them is that their pumps shut off prematurely on the IS, before my tank is full. So I wait in line for gas then have to hold the pump handle the whole time. Everytime without fail, multiple Costcos.
