Subwoofer Rattle/Flutter Fix
So as some of you already know, our subs arent the best. I have the ML and after 1 month of use it began to make a fluttering noise with bass above 40 vol.
Lexus refused to replace under warranty as they consider it normal. After a few months and lots of reading I decided I would take a crack at resealing the sub. I originally thought it may have had a tear in the cone but after i got everything apart i inspected the cone with a flashlight and did not find anything torn in the cone. I did however see tiny micro holes along the edge of the cone to the gasket. A few others have had success sealing/replacing the foam gasket with plumbing caulk and so I gave that a go.
I no longer hear that dreaded rattle/flutter and can crank up the music and bass without any issues. sounds 100% again.
Now I'm not entirely sure of the longevity of the caulk and if it will crack in the future but if it ever fails ill try to reseal it again or hopefully someone will have better luck with a drop in replacement
With that said, has anyone had any success in a simple drop in without adding an amp? Secondly has anyone resealed the sub with anything different?

I have a non-ML but it was one of the first audio mods I did. post #4 in this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/bui...reo-build.html

So I have a problem with it too. I was wondering if this is the “micro cracks that you are talking about? I also added a video of how it sounds so if you could tell me that it is similar or not that would be much appreciated. Thanks
