Default Seeking help with audio

Hey guys,

I am looking into a 2014-17 is350 f sport. Something I have done in my current car is installing an aftermarket head unit, speaker, and subwoofer. I would like to do the same thing in the cars I am looking at, besides the head unit as it’s not possible, or far to difficult and not worth investing into.

I was wondering how difficult and limited the 14-17 is350 models are. I would like to install an after market amp, and subwoofer. I understand that there is an amp in the back trunk, but Im not sure how powerful it is.

Is it as simple as removing the oem amp and swapping it with an aftermarket one? This is something I have been trying to find throughout forums and have not been so successful in doing so

any and all help is greatly appreciate, and thanks in advance to everyone!

Sixbanger has a really good build thread covering his audio mods:

I don't believe you can easily swap out the amp. I thought mine broke and I was looking into alternatives but nothing really let you easily keep stock features and go aftermarket. Basically you'd be adding an amp on top of the stock amp for any additional power you want. I think they have special harnesses and amps that allow you to piggy back on but they aren't cheap. At least the stock amp has an fair amount of power for a factory amp.

Same thing goes for the head unit, not really easily replaceable. Something like a Clean sweep might let you go aftermarket, but once again not cheap.

Luckily my amp wasn't broken but just temporary disabled by moisture (lucky me). I eventually replaced my dash tweeters and added an aftermarket sub. I think it sounds pretty good with that. I think would would be best to go the Mark Levinson audio package and then add an amp/sub.
