Next time I scrape on a driveway I'll say "ahhh yes, car doing car things" instead of wtf

 

This is why I like 2nd gen body over 3rd gen, I scraped this part of the bumper a number of times on my 2010 250, even bent it and it kept its shape with no paint peeling and no one would even notice unless they looked under it.
just patch it up and don't worry about it because it might happen again anyways.

 

I often ask myself if your brain functions properly.

 

Reminds me when I got my 'new to me' 2014 IS a couple of years ago. Had the selling dealer repaint the bumper to get rid of the road rash and scrapes to the splitter. Looked great when it came off the truck (shipped to me from out of state). About a week later, my wife was driving, and curbed it. I was disappointed to now have what you pictured above, but I couldn't get too pissed, because I had turned off the park assist the day before.
I chose not to worry about it, and have since curbed it a few times myself, as I found out the park assist doesn't work down at that level.(A front camera install is still on my long to-do list.)

 

I wouldn't worry about it.. if you look at most modern sports cars that are lowered, they all have this scraping.. I've hit mine against pretty high parking curbs even though I pull up VERY slowly.. Not worth fixing, if the bumper cracks, then yeah, if not visible, don't worry about it because it will happen again

 

does the car sit that low in the front that it affects your driving in the heavy snow???
doesn’t sound like a good car to have in certain states ???

 

I've driven through moderate snow here in KC no problem. The car isn't actually that low.

 

Not trying to resurrect an old thread, but was looking thru and found this thread. Curbed my car today . Got too close (apparently I have gotten too comfortable having parking sensors). Obviously, I wasn't happy about it (just took delivery about a month ago), but this thread helped keep it in perspective. Only muffed up the front right ... Bottom.

Being it's caviar paint (black-ish with metallic fleck ... Beautiful), and the grill is black, you don't really see it.

I mean I see it when I close my eyes .. Lol, but I don't see it looking dead-on. Just gonna "feel" it when I dry my car. Lol. I will lock up my OCD for a while. I am use to sitting in a taller vehicle, and clear a curb without issue.

 

I’ve found some curbs that can still cause damage the sensors don’t see. Have a few scraps under that have hit for sure. One on the drivers side that was on the car when we got it broke some clips and pushed things up pretty bad. Sucks, trying to get the wife better with spatial awareness and park short. Same deal use to suvs and trucks here. Big tires on my truck she can pretty much drive by braille with no consequences.

 

Yeah the parking sensors on my 2021 don't detect low curbs. The wife's BMW does, but it almost is to a fault where I leave too much space. Ugh. We can't win!

I drove a little onto a parking block in my 2021 when I had only had it for a few weeks... it's all on the underside of the bumper, so nothing you'd ever see unless it was on a lift. I mean at this point, I've accepted that this is not my forever car, and driving any car daily is going to lead to damage over time. The word "damage" is probably an exaggeration, though.
