Thanks all, there's an abundance of good tech in this car. The heads-up display is my favorite, it really enables me to be a safer driver since I can always see the legal speed limit and my speed etc. No wonder this car was cheaper to insure than my 3IS. Insurance is crediting me over a hundred bucks for the remaining 4 months left on my coverage. Car is very quick lol but i am following the mandated break in. Only comfort mode for now. Surprisingly the run flats 19's feel fine, i was expecting a rough ride but that's not the case. Power galore, just tap the pedal and she goes even in comfort mode, steering is firm and tight. The M -pack brakes are amazing, i made the right choice.
I'm liking the HUD especially because it increases overall safety as you said. About that break-in period.... what did they tell you the wait was? Maybe I should make sure I follow correctly as well lol.
Also did you end up getting the Lasers or is it the Adaptive lights you have?

Break-in is 1100 miles i believe total, brakes and suspension are like 300 miles , engine is the longest at about 1100 miles. This car has a good exhaust note, can only imagine the sounds after break-in. Lots of pops and crackles.
Adaptive it's better than the 3IS LED's by far so no complaint.

Congratulations, the B58 is a beast of a motor. IMO, this further underscores the inadequacy of the current IS versus the stiff competition from all sides. Even Acura is coming out with the TLX Type-S soon, making for a total of 7 competitors (M340i, S4, C43, G70, Q50 RS, CT5-V, TLX Type-S).
Don't forget the Model 3 Performance that is cheaper than all but 2 of the listed cars. It's a pretty sport sedan.
The F30 340i is pretty cheap right now. Any reason I should wait for M340i, or would I be better off saving my money on a CPO 340i?
(There's a nice 23,000-mile example in my area with M Sport that's asking only $32,000, kinda tempted to go look at it.)
The F30 has lifeless steering and the chassis isn't as communicative as the IS350. I bought my IS350 over a 335i F30 simply because the steering was so bland on it. Other than that, its a fine car but the interior is very dated. The new G20 platform is better in every way but can be really pricey when optioned out. I wouldn't say its twice the car the F30 is so it depends on what you're willing to pay. Keep this in mind, the G20 is in its first year so it may be buggy as hell later. All 1st year cars have teething problems. The F30 in its final years have been very reliable. Have you tried out the G70? Pretty cheap for what you get. Also, the Model 3 I have is really fun to own and i haven't had a single issue and both are about the same price range at $55k. Honestly, if you want speed, the Model 3 is the car to get. I've runaway easily from M3s and 340s (no chance) and the only other car that was faster was a P100D (those things are insane).
For those of you who got the new 3 Series, were yours assembled in Germany or Mexico? I think initial allocations were to be built in Germany, then they'd start coming from Mexico. Not sure if I am remembering that correctly.

Mines is Germany.
If your vin starts with a W it was built in Germany. If it starts with a 3, it was built in Mexico.
Is there a noticeable quality difference between the two regions? Anyone notice in the BMW forums?
No one has really discussed it from what I've see. But personally, if I'm buying a BMW which is a German car... I would want it to be made in Germany since that has been the standard since inception and moving production facilities elsewhere can impact quality like you said. I wonder what others think of this?

I just know that some of the VWs built in Mexico had some questionable quality issues in the past.

I'd love to know how much their profit margins increase in general by manufacturing them in Mexico. Could be a bad business move in the long run for BMW and how will people react knowing some of their cars are not even manufactured in Germany? I know the X models are manufactured in Spartanburg, SC, so I guess we'll see what happens in the future.
Only the enthusiasts mind, the majority demographic buying modern BMW's these days do not fall into that category.
The majority lease so long term reliability isn't an issue. If I were keeping the car, I'd still want to know. How much more miles till you let her rip. I gunned my Tesla coming out of the parking lot of the delivery center No break in period for cars without engines. Hahaha
