Default 18" wheels on base model

Does anyone know why Lexus stop offering the option of 18" staggered wheels on their base model offerings. The only non Fsport IS 300's that have 18" wheels are the ones with the premium package (which cost more than an Fsport). I know up until 2019 that you could get a base model with the optional 18 inch wheels, but no longer in 2019. Sure you can always probably order one through Lexus, but you will pay full MSRP. Just wondering...

Also the car looks horrible sitting on 17's. I don't even know why they bother putting them on.

I was always under the impression that the base model IS just comes with standard 17s, non-staggered. If you wanted 18s that come from Lexus stock, as you mentioned, you'd need to have a package to get it or an individual option specific to that IS trim. For a non F-Sport, you could purchase the 18 inch wheels as an individual option and the car setup would still be non-staggered. I think the premium package just gives you heated/cooling front seats, power tilt steering wheel, rain-sensing wipers, BSM, and memory seats... not different wheels.

If the car came with an F-Sport package, it would come with a staggered wheel setup and with the accompanying 18 inch wheels.

My 2017 base model came with 18" staggered alloy mesh wheels, and I know that most base models on dealer lots had that option up until 2018. But now ALL 2019 base models only have 17", unless you get the premium base. That has the 18" mesh alloy staggered set up, but MSRP is close to $45,000.
