I've always used store brand DOT3. Never had a reason not too.

Don't know I've ever caught wind of a "preferred brand" of brake fluid.

Can't mess this one up.



...IMO, you do not need DOT4 unless you drive a race or high performance car.

I buy the genuine brake fluid from the dealer.
When I actually compared DOT 3 fluid from a chain supplier versus the dealer, the dealer price was actually better for an equivalent amount.
Same thing with brake cleaner...

I know...shocking

I have found parts prices car comparable, its the labor they kill you on.

what's the part # ? mine is is250 2014 base model rwd

They should only have DOT 3 at the dealer.

Brake Fluid - C0009-00127 (that's the 473ml bottle - there's a small bottle I believe)
Brake Cleaner - C0009-00137

That is shocking. And would have never occurred to me to even ask for brake cleaner from a dealer. I may check it out next time I'm there.
