Latest info on Lexus 4IS powerplant... (hold onto your seats for this one)

I don't see Lexus spending the time and money to build a facility to produce BMW engines, nor do I see them using the B58 when they already have the twin turbo V6 that was designed from the ground up to be a TNGA-compatible power plant. This means that the greatest cost effectiveness and efficiencies are realized when engineers and product designers work within the TNGA framework.

Let's just say they keep both the 300 & 350. I could see the 300 V6 being given 310-320hp and the 350 getting 350-380hp. I'm not sure what they'll do with the 300 4 cylinder turbo.

Though, how cool would it be if the model number was roughly equal to horsepower?

Agreed, people want the extra HP but complain when the price goes up 10k. Realistically I see 330-345 HP on a base model IS350 engine and this may be a over the top prediction. Lexus have a niche that provides luxury, power and reliability in one package. They aren't in the upper level of vehicle sales for their HP.

I watched the video, 360 camera in that car is quite amazing. You can even see the same 360 camera and rotate around from BMW app when you're not even in the car. It's not shown in this video though.
I'm even playing with the thought of ordering M340i, 0-60 around 4.2 sec that's even faster than F80 M3.

What do you guys think? This is the new trend in the luxury world. The rear stripe tail light going all the way across. The UX has this, the Audis have this. Now the 7. What if the next IS came with a tail light going all the way across?

I missed that. That's bad ***. Imagine turning on the app and viewing your 360 degree cameras any time you please form the comfort of your bed. I wonder if BMW can make it possible to where you can record footage to your phone if you want. That would be nearly enough alone for me to want to get that car. If we're not there, that's where tech is heading. The world might be a safer place with that kind of tech.

Half the battle is getting that to your phone. but it's better than nothing. I'd like integration with the app. Can you check the Tesla with the app in real time? I am considering getting the tesla 3 in the next couple years.

Not a fan of the over embellished kidney grills on the 7 series. I also dislike the continuous rear tail light treatment they've given it. It looks like a Lincoln. Basically, I think its an ugly car.

Seems my brother-in-law can run his Tesla from his phone. Could apparently have it pull up to pick him up at his door if he wanted.
Not like that tech won't filter down to most cars eventually. Transmitting data is easy, it's getting it to work properly, safely, and securely that's the issue.

We're talking about just accessing the camera from the phone like the new 3 Series. Not driving the car. Read a few posts above.

I agree I do not like the kidneys so large.
But keep in mind cars today need large grills for cooling. Look at Lexus and audi grills.
the problem with BMW is due to heritage, brand identity, they are stuck with having a notch at the top and bottom to retain the kidney appearance. Otherwise without the notch, it's like most other big turbo luxury car grills.

As though operating the car is easier than accessing its cameras? Child's play, even if not already functional. Little doubt Tesla can out-do any Germans.
