Not sure if they do or don't...I bought my car at a Toyota dealership which used a 3rd party vendor

I've never bought an extended warranty in my life, and never regretted it. Most thing that will go bad will go bad early-on, or when the car is very old. Not the middle years were an extended warrant would help.

My 2016 IS 350 is coming off lease and I will likely just purchase it. I have had no issues with it. About 39k miles, serviced at every interval. I asked about an extended warranty. Dealer wanted $4,300 for 8 yr/100k. I said nfw. I'll take my chances.

i think in Canada it’s appriximatly 3500$ for 8 year/140k..before negotiations. A guy on this forum with a 2015 and 60k Miles said his front diff seal went, navigation unit, heated seat and something else. Personally at 40k my blower motor for the hvac unit went (800$ fix covered under warranty). The thing is I have horrible, horrible luck so i think for peace of mind I might just get the warranty. Better safe then sorry and I drive about 30,000km a year.

It's a piece of mind thing for sure. I have RWD so only thing really worried about would be what's behind the dash.

I’m awd in Canada. I have 3 months before 4 year warranty is done, going to start calling and haggling every dealer in my province and see what price I can get. Will report back here.

My first Lexus was a CPO. And I took it back once after the original warranty expired. My first new Lexus also went back twice using my extended warranty. The entertainment unit went bad and a pillar airbag was bad.

My current Lexus is another CPO and has a year left of warranty. And it has been in the shop numerous times since I bought it. And it needs to go back again for a bad carrier bearing.

If you plan on keeping the car after the original warranty get the extended warranty.

It costs around 750 to 1000 dollars for a couple years. Which you will get back with one big repair.

I live in Canada where everything is more expensive. I’m getting prices of 3500+tax for 8year/120k mile warranty. It’s lexus platinum warranty.
i figure the nav unit alone is like 2500$ plus labor to replace, gauge cluster is 2300$ just in parts. All the other random little stuff could add up to over the time I have it. I have 3 1/2 months to buy it, I’m going to literally call every dealer in my province I hope I can get it for more like 2500-3000$ because 3900 after tax is steep.

Do you plan on keeping the car 8 more years? I just bought a 2 year Warranty. After owning the car 6 years I sold it and got another.

with all the hybrid technology coming out I’ll probably keep it 3 more years or so. Ive also read 2 different forums where the nav units went right after warranty..in Canada that’s like a 3k repair. Did u get Lexus warranty?

Why dealerships sell 3rd party warranties is because there's more commission than the factory extended warranty. So far I've only had an O2 sensor replaced under extended warranty on my 2014 is350, had the Nav screen replaced but was still in warranty. At this point i don't think the extended warranty is worth it, since these cars are pretty reliable and at $3500 for my extended warranty a big ticket item must go to make me happy.

I had that fixed to. My hvac blower motor unit went also that would have been 800$ish if I didn’t still have warranty
