IS 8 speed Transmission Problems
Haven’t found any thread of this, if there is please redirect me. Thank you in advance.
I have a 2016 IS200t with the 8spd with 22,600 Miles and noticed the transmission is giving me issues now. It started around the 17k-22k mile mark. Shortly after starting my car and waiting about 3-5 minutes for warm up I put in reverse and around 2 seconds later it switched and “slammed” into reverse causing my whole car to jerk backwards about an inch. It has also been doing this after getting out of my driveway to put in drive it’ll just slam into place 2 seconds after putting into drive. Is anyone else experiencing this? I know these 8spds are new so hopefully they’re not majorly flawed. Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Apart from the 2 seconds lag I've experienced somewhat similar when the engine is cold
and the idle RPM is still raised.
While the oil temperature of the torque converter is low, the engage process is less smooth, even with normal idle.
But this doesn't explains the 2 sec. switching lag.
In my case it takes less than a second for the transmission to respond to the position change of the shift lever.
My IS has 18.5k miles in the drivetrain.

Welcome to my world lol, when its usually about 32 degrees Fahrenheit and the car sits over night the same thing you just described occurs. Usually after a minute or so the shifts go back to normal. I always just thought it was transmission warming up, honestly its me just hoping in the car waiting like 30 seconds then going, so maybe if i let it warm up for a minute, they would probably be smoother.
Also, i remember there being a thread about someone having the issue when shifting and we discussed making sure the brake pedal is pushed in all the way!
