Default Warranty Questions

So I looked around and searched for this but not many people put tags on their threads so you can't properly search for stuff on the forum. Anyway, currently have a 2018 IS300 FSport with a little over 3k miles. Curious about warranty voids with lowering springs, spacers. I purchased the wheel and tire package when I bought the car but I'm wondering if I get something like spacers if the dealership wouldn't honor the package due to that.

Depends on the dealer but I would take the spacers or springs off when you go in to get your car fixed under warranty. You dont want to give them a reason to deny you. For example, if you have a leaking strut with aftermarket springs and try to fix it under warranty, they will most likely you tell you your aftermarket spring voids your warranty here is the bill.

Yeah that's pretty much what I was wondering. Just if anybody had any experiences with aftermarket stuff when taking their car in and being denied. But I guess you're right, probably depends on the dealer.

My adviser at Lexus knows I have a full cat-back and they still perform warranty work on my car as long as its not related to my exhaust system.

Lexus warranty covers damage produced by a stock, lexus part. If you boost your motor and blow a piston rod through your block, theyre not going to cover that, however if the wastegate in your bone stock IS200t ruins performance, theyll cover the replacement.

Yeah that's understandable.. I guess I meant more something along the lines of getting spacers and lowering and then curb rashing my wheel (which I believe is covered under the wheel and tire package) and then I go to take it in and they say "well your car is lowered so we cant fix it under that" even though it has no relation.

The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act (1975) requires manufacturers to honor their warranties and auto manufacturers only warrant their vehicles against manufacturing defects. Your claim can be denied because the failure was not due to a defect in the actual car itself, but by something added to it. Over-sized tires, cars that have been lifted or lowered, adding a nitrous oxide injection system, adding a straight pipe, etc., etc., if they result in a malfunction, then the logic is that your mod did not void the warranty--- but any specific failure in your steering or suspension system, uneven tire wear, wear on your wheels, that was not caused by a factory defect, is on you.

If you get a good guy on the other side, they'll cover for you. But that all depends on who that person is and how the relationship evolves.
