"It's his car" is such a cop out. That's no excuse for doing something grossly negligent. It's his car, but it's not his road. See the point? That's why it's unacceptable.
It isn't personal but about the modification itself. Dark tinted windows sure whatever. But lights are vital to safety, child safety, pet safety. Imagine your mom/brother/dad/sister/pet on the road not being able to see a car. Especially with today with all the distractions you need every bit of help you can get.
it's not a cop out, it's the reality of it. forcing people to do things based on your opinion as hard facts is never good. like i said, i don't agree with tinting any lights at all but regardless of my opinion, it is his car and there's nothing i can do about it no matter how much i or you say it's "unacceptable".

Nobody's forcing anyone to do anything, nor is anyone claiming they can do anything about it. That's where you're getting mixed up here with your "cop out."
Nobody denies he can do what he wants to his car.
That's not the point I am making.
The point you're giving is "it's his car he can do whatever he want" without offering any substantive dialogue about the safety concerns at hand. Which is totally a cop out to just universally respond with "Welp! it's his car!" That's all =)
Edit:
One more point. When peoples lives/safety are on the line, "it's his car he can do what he wants" doesn't cut it.

I swear you complain about anything that people do if it's not something you would do lol. Anyways, I've seen plenty of people tint their lights and the light can still be seen with no problems, chill out people. Unless you can give me concrete evidence that people with tinted lights cause more accidents and/or are in more accidents, I say it's not a big deal. I can't remember ever seeing an accident involving a car with tinted taillights.

youre not getting my point obviously. You don’t like that’s fine, but to call it unacceptable is harsh to me. You’re not the end all and be all of criticisms. You can criticize it but to make it seem like you’re the last word on it is asinine. There’s no cop out here, once again it’s just the reality of it. You don’t like the mod just move on? There’s thousands of people who do this mod. I personally am not one of them but I’m not gonna sit here and say it’s unacceptable because of pretentious safety to the public.
Also besides all this safety stuff, people out here(AZ) drive with tail lights out all the time, you shouldn’t be complacent enough to not realize the car in front of you is slowing down. not to mention mine are still perfectly visible. and to add a third point, there is a third unrestricted brake light in the rear glass. Not going to reccomend someone else do this, this is just how i did it.
edit:not justifying not having visible tail lights i just used that point to add on to the thing about not being complacent while you drive.
Sidenote: she just looks so damn good murdered out!
To anyone still following this thread, I stirpped off all the vht on the DRL's. Tonight im taking off the front bumper(The drl on the left side had part of the bumper where it fastens in pop out) and while i have it off, im going to take the drl's out, sand them at 400, then 600 until those weird artifacts are out of the light. see here:
As well as that, once i recoat it in VHT, im going to sand them and the taillights with 1000, then clearcoat then 2000 then buff.
The new fine grit sanding equipment is supposed to come tomorrow, I want these lights to have a mirror-like finish. found a buffer drill attachment to make the buffing process all that much easier. going to work my way up from 600 grit on the clear-coat, then after 3000 grit, ill clean the lights, then go in for the buff. after the buff ill use a waterless wash, then wax the lights. I'll post some pics.
Side-note: for anyone with satin vinyl, buffing compound easily took out some pretty big scuffs i had, and wax made it almost invisible!

Waste of time telling people on here. Let them turn their Lexus into a civic. It's the same with those people who buy 328i and put M3 stickers on them or c250 with AMG stickers.
It's illegal here in WA. It rains a lot here and you can barely see non tinted tail lights in rain. Tinted taillights in heavy rain = turned off tailights.

I don't see any fsport or f performance badges on my base model.
Either way i'm happy with the way they turned out. The goal of this thread wasnt to induce an argument on whether or not they look good, bad, or whether theyre safe or not. I simply wanted to know the process others used to achieve the look on their cars. I got my answer and replicated it. I never meant to start this kind of an argument.
Seems a couple of us on here need to read the sticky thread about forming a sense of community.
anyways, no shade meant to be thrown, just speaking on what this thread was created for.
