It can't be used without using data. There is one navigation app on the the unit that is offline. WAZE/Google maps need to be tethered to Data/WiFi

No it's the one on the Android home screen next to the Lexus/factory option logo (I forget what it's called). It's not bad actually, the one thing I don't like about it though is that it constantly tells you you're going over the speed limit. If I can figure out a way to get rid of that I'd be good with it tbh.

Sygic is a good option, as is Karta.

Ok I'll check it out. I like Waze a lot and I have free tethering with my plan so good with that too. Did you get EasyConnect working to mirror your screen. I got it working and works really well but the app is in Chinese and I dont know how to change the language as I can't read anything. Mirroring still works though

I expect they are but I was just saying the one on Ali Express is all black plastic from the back while this one is metal. Also Ali Express is more expensive. $880 vs $800 from 4x4.

I'm guessing they installed it for me but I have no clue where it is. I seriously don't have a clue about this stuff. It's sad how little I know about electronics. lol

I've been chatting with Fred at 4X4 Shop, and asked if the Navi/Joystick equipped IS's work. He said he thinks it should, but they haven't tested it yet and need a volunteer. I'd volunteer, but I'm in California...

Is there anyone in Toronto with a Navi/Joystick equipped IS that can spend a couple hours testing this in their shop?

Also, he said he'd be willing to do a group buy if we get 5 or more. He said they can include the CarPlay dongle for FREE ($100-150 savings). Please please...let's do this.

I'd be interested in a unit from 4x4, especially since its the 2GB version.
5 should not be hard to reach given all the comments on the thread.
I know it should be easily achieveable but Is there a way to get Fred @ 4x4 to officially vouch this groupbuy? (I have some flashbacks of the RRRacing one)

Edit: probably easier to call him than to also get him to comment/vouched as a CL vendor

Backup camera is not a feature of vehicles in other countries. China market does not have cameras, probably why its a afterthought to them.
Its standard on American Models because there is regulation coming that all new cars sold in USA need to have backup camera either very soon or already enacted.
