Default Tip: Disable 'animation' through your dash settings to greatly speed up the UI

Took me 3 months of ownership to realize this. Can't speak to the 2017-2018s, but on the 2016, the speed of the UI always bugged me. Browsing playlists, fast forward/rewind, etc. I recently found that you can disable animation through the settings menu and it greatly enhances the speed/responsiveness of the UI.

Credit to JDR76:
  • Push MENU, then:
  • Setup
  • General
  • Animation

Yes, I’d like to know as well. I don’t ever remember seeing an option in the settings.

Per page 287 of the 2016 owner's manual:

Push MENU, then:

Setup
General
Animation

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but the 'animation' is simply the way the scrolling and transitions work. It slowly 'slides' up/down/sideways when scrolling/transitioning screens with animation on. I guess it would look decent if it was about 5x quicker....

disabled mine a while ago. the thing seems like its powered by a compaq computer from the 90s. the one with 8mb of ram... you can really see how automotive companies cost cut with such poor computers.

Gotcha. I was being serious/not-serious. I wonder if someone turned mine off before I got the car (i.e. during a test drive). I'll have to look for it later when I'm leaving work.

Hmm...I changed it on my '14 when I still had it, in the hopes of speeding up the system response (it didn't help). It's on page 268 of the 2014 manual.

Just checked on my ‘15 and no such option exists. I checked the owners manual on those pages but nothing came up; only showed information regarding something for the non-Nav model. Index didn’t show anything either.

Definitely checking this ASAP. I hate how slow the animations are. And LOL @E46CT’s comment it’s so true almost all car infotainments are SO SLOW. It’s pretty frustrating.

My 2018 owners manual does indeed show it! I can’t wait to turn off the animations! I read my entire manual and didn’t see this.
