These cars chew up front tires like nobody's business. No reason to flush money down the drain. They're great tires but you can get two Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s for the price of one of the S04s. And the Indy 500s will either match or outperform them.
(Same manufacturer)
New front high friction OE german pads and firehawks doing nice in 111f heat.

none. you'll be on your own there. even with rim protect of the "OE" tires, i still managed to curb the wheels and i'm pretty careful. (minor taps)

you could do it. not necessarily bad or good. you'll have 10mm more width, but don't forget you'll also have more height. and you'd need to do the backs to match the change.
personally just go the correct size. you won't be making any huge performance gains going wider one size. may as well just go rear wheels/tires on the front if you want to go that route (something i want to do myself at some point)

How close are you to the wear bars on the rear? 1mm or below i'd replace. anything more and save your money. you can have different tires on F/R axles as long as they're the correct size and generally the same type (class).
My fronts wore out quickly so I changed fronts and had stock rears for a few months.

They look a bit hardened and all seasony. The wear isn't that bad but it's pretty much a good time to replace.
haha if the goal is performance, replace all at once.
here's how they look

^Sweet! Glad I could bring another into the firestone firehawk fold. make sure you print out and mail in the rebate. they have a $60 rebate right now when you buy 4.
I live in socal so i don't run winter tires.

Did you ever confirm if they are going to discontinue the Firehawks or not? Or is it just a really bad shortage nationwide, etc?

Anyway here's what Tire rack says about these tires:
Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 (Ultra High Performance Summer 245/40R18 97W)
- What We Liked: Aggressive looks backed up by impressive levels of dry grip and sharp reflexes.
- What We'd Improve: The firmest ride in this test and very light steering effort.
- Conclusion: Hits the bull's eye for an Ultra High Performance tire.
