What brand of fuel are you using?

I think he's trying to say that for all intents and purposes, all gas is the same. meaning any gas station you encounter in most cities (where 99% of us live), it's going to be a top tier brand and any difference will be negligible. None of us are really going to run into Martha's Gas Store during our daily commutes to work. Hell IIRC I think even "Valero" gas is top tier now.
But I only think that's what he's trying to say. People should speak clearly!
oh and another thing i wonder if anyone else does this but i don't look at gas prices nor do i drive around trying to find the station that's a few cents cheaper. if i need gas i just get it. whatever is closest. not for any bragging purposes but why burn gas to save a few cents a gallon. may even cost you more. i just find it funny some make finding cheap gas this whole event. you'll also be burning gas waiting in line at the cheap gas stations cause everyone else had the same idea.

Correct, all gas sold in the US must meet federal requirements, such gas is good enough to be used in our Lexus's. One may go beyond federal requirements - purely optional.

While all fuels have to meet MINIMUM requirements, I personally rather go with the gas companies that offer a lot more of detergents and additives aka top tier gas companies. The premium fuels from these companies are the ones that come with the extra additives and detergents (more than the federally required minimum) so MIGHT AS WELL go to one of these if it's close by as it should be around the same price as the non top tier companies' premium fuel anyways (which probably only has the minimum required detergents and additives). Better cleaning properties and other benefits (read about Shell's Nitro V Power Premium gas) this is all assuming it's all true which I think it is because lawsuits are very common over false advertisement. Just my opinion and why I PERSONALLY go to Shell.

I always check GasBuddy for all the stations on my way home if I know I'm low on gas. The difference can be astonishing, as much as a $0.30 difference. That's as much as $5 for a fill up. And since all the ones I check are on the way home, I don't go out of my way at all.
