Question Does the IS300h have carbon buildup issues?

I was looking at buying a 2014 IS250 but have been put off by mention of the carbon buildup issue. Can anyone confirm does the issue also effect the IS300h? Otherwise I guess I'll be saving my pennies for an IS350, or looking at another brand of car altogether

Edti. This would be a 2014 IS300h

No, it doesn't.

Additionally, I don't think the carbon build up issues are that big of a deal, but some people do. Either way, the same system is not used on the IS300h.

Thanks, I heard it's also direct injection so has the same issue. This issue is really confusing me, some poeple seem to think it's the end of the world others think it's nothing. I'm worried about it buying a second hand car, probably less of an issue buying new..

You shouldn't have to worry about the IS300h. It has port and direct injection. The Port injectors will wash off the intake valves.

The IS250 did not have both system, just direct injection. They did update the 4GR-FSE engine a tad to reduce the chance of carbon buildup.

The carbon buildup issues were resolved by the end of the 2IS life cycle.
Granted the 3IS 250 has the same engine, the updates were implemented prior to production.
Whatever IS you ultimately decide to buy, you should be fine either way.

No, it's both a direct and port injection engine so no carbon build-up issues.
