Anyone here come from Acura

Nothing wrong with either brands. I love the older Acuras especially the Legend and the Integra. I loved the 3rd gen TL and the 1st gen TSX. Those two were a game changer for Acura. I know Acura has been trying to shed the ricer image from the Integra days. That's probably why you don't see many Lexus or Infiniti buyers running to their doors. I do agree with your last statement. Acura did lose their way, especially their current lineup. They mostly look like Accords, Pilots and CRV. They don't really try to distinguish the brand beside a fancy interior and a slightly new face.
Both brands will have their quirks. I've owned Toyota's all my life so I don't expected anything less from Lexus. Even the older Lexus like the SC, ES, GS, LS, if well taken care of will last for a long time. Nice and comfortable, unless you get an F-Sport IS. It's a bit firm for my taste or maybe the seats were a bit firm. It's a matter of opinion. I love the GS F-Sport though.

I had a 2005 and 2102 TL. Both started rattling at under 4K. The dealerships fixed it but it was a hassle. I have a 2014 IS. It had a rattle in the passenger seat. Lexus replaced the seat and sent a $700 check for my time. To be fair, never contacted Acura corporate about the rattles. The IS is a gas to drive. That said, you're gonna get more bang for buck i.e. tech with a TL, imo. I enjoy the IS greatly. The seating position and ergonomics fit me perfectly. But it doesn't even have memory seats for cryin' out loud.

I came from a 02' RSX Type S that was on 9lbs of boost. Great car, super reliable, fun to drive and good on gas. No complaints. The IS is completely different car and there is a difference in driving. AWD feels way better that's for sure and it handles great. I do miss the k20 engine and the sky high revving but I am happy with my 2017 IS. Honda/Acura didn't have a RWD bias sports sedan hence I went with the Lexus.

IMHO, Acura hit its peak with what it was offering back in 04 to maybe 12. It's been sliding downhill ever since. The 14 MDX was decent, but just a few weeks ago traded out of that into a BMW X5.
All that said, I've had nothing but a great experience in my almost 2 years with my 16 IS200t F-Sport. Love the car. And I think if reliability matters to you, CR rates the whole lineup pretty high across the board. As for driving, my IS is tons more fun than the TLX ever was. F-Sport is a fun package, and the seats are amazing. I'd definitely at least go test drive one - feel the difference for yourself.

All of my cars are manual and still running, passed down to younger siblings. (below are the models) I agree, Honda/Acura automatic transmissions are like glass which why I stayed with manual transmissions. The manual has its quirks though but never experienced them. (2nd gear grind or 3 gear pop out. Now that I can afford a Lexus they no longer have new models that come manual. Still considering getting a Lexus due to Acura's styling hasn't been sexy for the last decade. ZF tranny still has issues, direct injected can be an issue in the long run.
1992 Integra GSR, 2000 Integra GSR, 2006 TSX manual, 2008 TL Type S manual.

I didn't see this list before I posted. My 06 TSX was bullet proof, even with the auto tranny. Over 100k and I did nothing but maintain and replace wear items. I think (personal opinion) your TSX and TL are from the "good times" Acura had back then. I think you'll be sorely disappointed with anything they offer since leaving the TSX/TL and moving to the ILX and TLX. Avoid both.
99-04 Honda Accord had got Transmission failure in its i4 cyl Cars, 04-08 Acura TL had couple issues and did recall too, like Power steering pump and Piston or camshaft noise, not just my 05 TL but others as well, suspension component keep on failing, 1st will be Engine Mount for these years TL and swaybar bushing to endlinks my TL was a Luxury packpage with Navigation+ memory seat auto tilting mirror for back in parking, 1st navigation CD die and than Mirror and then Memory seat and then Driver Window power stop working.
According to thread owner he asks for Experience with Acura since the 90s, this is my ex with 05 acura, if you go back to 1999-2004 Accord has transmission failure history, trust me my people only drive Honda and Toyota since 1980 when we 1st came to America ! after Vietnam War.

I owned a 2005 Acura RL until it was totaled last year, loved it never gave me any problems. Didn't see any newer ones I liked so I went with Lexus, glad I did I don't think you could wrong with either I know Lexus is no.1 with dependability, and reliability. Plus I don't have to worry about changing the timing belt. Lexus has a chain.

Came from a 03 TL that burned 1 quart of oil every 700 miles and a horrible transmission. Then purchased a 2006 Corolla that pretty much saw red line everyday and now the 15' IS350 F Sport. Don't think I would buy another Acura again. Toyota/Lexus seems to be the best in terms in reliability.

Yep the early model that shared Trans with Accord, i forgot to mention, you're right, i don't know about Honda Civic, but Accord and TL that time model Trans were crappy.

3rd Gen IS is kinda small but not that bad like 2nd Gen IS 06-10, TSX and Toyota Corolla, i think its perfect size for me, not too big not too small, but the Acura TL and Toyota Solara space and legroom.... i like it.
Other co-worker bought a 2016 ILX last year, didn't bother to drive it because i saw the same old Engine same as my friend's 07 TSX, so the new name for TSX is ILX and TL is TLX,
its the old 2.4L of Civic SI that makes 201 HP, the TLX using 3.5L engine from the old TL Types engine, and our Lexus IS still using 3.5L engine from 2006 lol little update but same Tech.
The interior of new ILX and TLX are really nice too more shiny than Lexus and Lexus is more Manly looks and Luxurious, Lexus design for Man like us lol
the 2018 TL styling has been redesigned and its looked nice, i mean not bad for the Price, my sister liked it

I really really really wanted to like the new TLX. But IMO, the car just doesn't stand a chance next to the IS350. i test drove the V6 SHAWD version before getting the IS.
the 3rd gen TL, 1st gen TSX are my favorites though.

Corolla gave me around 36 MPG with a 12-13 gallon tank. I drive from MA to PA quite a bit and was able to get there in half tank of gas. The TL was horrible- I believe average was 20 MPG or less. The 350 F sport can't be compared to the Corolla but is definitely better than the TL. On a full tank I can get anywhere between 320-340 miles out of it driving both city and highway.
