Default New Generation IS

Hi all,

Has anyone heard anything about when the new IS generation will be released? It appears that its normally a 6-8 year cycle.

i really hope Lexus stops playing catch up with their next car and they can actually lead. they have the most money out of all the car makers but keep falling short. struggling in every performance metric compared to rivals.

for one they need to make their cars lighter. they're always the fattest porkiest in the class.

I agree. They really need a performance variant sitting above the 350 that can compete with the M3. Even the RC lacks that extra punch.

in terms of tech and other features, some good signs coming out of the new Camry. Hopefully this transfers over to better tech and quality with the new IS

yeah the new platform should be good for the next IS... though I wish Toyota adopts apple/android car play... only manufacturer in its class that doesn't its mind boggling and a huge turn off.

Toyota has announced that the 2019 Toyota/Lexus models will have Apple Car play. Nothing for the Android users yet.

I got told 2019 by my salesman last time I was at the dealer for an oil change, but I highly doubt it and also think it's gonna be 2020...

6 years seems a little too soon for a redesign of a luxury car. My bet is 2021 considering all sedan sales are floundering.

Really hoping they stick with a naturally aspirated V6, but just bump up the power while keeping weight in check. No question, the 3.5 is a great engine, but I do think it was lazy of them to just copy-paste it between generations. I would appreciate a more conservative front end as well. It can still be attractive without looking like an origami creation
They will not stick with an NA engine, the new LS is a clear hint. It is the flagship and yet they chose turbo, why then use NA in an entry level car?

I am looking forward to a new ISF so hopefully they make one soon. There needs to be a car that has better performance than the IS350. Even something that can go head to head with the 400hp Infiniti would suffice.

i hope the stock IS exhaust sound for the 350/ISF is more aggressive than right now as well... it seems like the germans always has a very nice exhaust sound, while we need aftermarket exhausts for our cars to sound good

Lexus cars are porky because they are quieter. That said, what I want is:

- More turbo engines --> IS300 (being the current turbo), IS400 (325bhp), IS500 (430bhp)
- Apple Carplay or phone mirroring in car
- More safety systems

If they could get on Audi's level of tech then I think Lexus could do wonders
