I'm looking to replace the anemic sounding horns in my is350 and I'm trying to determine what I currently have installed. I noticed I have three horns, one round horn mounted on the passenger side of the engine bay right behind the air filter, and two trumpet style horns mounted in the grill facing downward. I assume the round horn is stock, but unsure about the two trumpet style horns in the grill. I bought the car used a few months ago, so wasn't sure if the previous owner installed aftermarket horns.
I'm looking to go to either Hella supertones or some bosch horns. If the horns up front are aftermarket, I was considering just re-using the existing wire harness since its appears to be run very neat and already wired properly. If they are factory, I may have to run another wiring harness and use a relay to support aftermarket horns. Appreciate any insight on this.
Just got home and was able to take a pic. It's these horns right here, they're Maruko brand.
Maruko brand horns
My cars the same, "3" in total. not really sure what the smaller one is used for...
Running aftermarket harness with relay is always advised to get the full power to aftermarket horns.
