I was thinking similar too. I can get a dashcam BlackVue or iRoad model which has both front and back cameras for cheaper than that and have it installed hard wire if I wanted.
i had mine installed two months ago. Dealer said I was the first one to install it in Ontario. Took them close to two hours to install as it was their first but I'm quite happy with it.

That's awesome that Lexus is now providing a dashcam but I wish they could make it have a more integrated look and not look like such an aftermarket add-on. Also, for the price I feel like you get a lot less bang for your buck compared to aftermarket selections. I paid $399 (US) last month for Blackvue DR750-2CH off of Amazon and did the install myself. If the next version could just be integrated into the rear view mirror or overhead console that would be awesome.

Agreed. For $700 it better have damn near seamless integration.
