My first Lexus (IS 300 AWD)
Hi all,
I have always been a Toyota guy, traded my 2011 V6 XLE Camry in for a 2016 IS 300 AWD F-sport a couple days ago at my local Lexus dealership. I love it! Although it has less horsepower and I can feel less acceleration than my Camry, it is tuned better and very smooth. The red sports seats are awesome too and of course, the outside is beautiful! I got it pretty cheap considering its a "new" Lexus, $35k even with 6k miles on it (old couple bought recently and returned it). I bought that Camry XLE that I traded in for 30k in 2010 so it made sense to spend just a little more to get something to be proud of.
I bought lowering springs that day at the Lexus dealer, they told me F-sport lowering springs were not available for my model but they have RSR models and will fully warranty them after install (I prepaid $700 for this already, they ordered for me). I was big on the warranty part. I went with the "down" not "double down". I hope it looks ok, I'm a bit nervous on such a nice car...its not a crappy teenagers 1998 civic haha.
I am going to leave everything else alone except the stereo. My Camry also has a much more powerful stereo (JBL I think) and the Lexus stereo is terrible. Could anyone recommend some quick stereo upgrades they like under $1000 budget? Id like a small powered Sub under one of the front seats and an if possible replace the factory speakers (I assume will need an amp). Id love to hear some examples of what people here have done to their IS's stereo wise and maybe I could do the same. I don't want a box in the trunk, just looking for professionally installed super clean and stealth upgrade. Thanks in advance! Ill post pics soon.

Welcome. It's too bad you didn't get the ML option as that stereo is really good. The IS300 will handle much better than your Camry and if you get the ECU tune, you can unlock all 306 hp turning your Is300 into a IS350. Camry are quick but from a highway roll, I've walked them pretty easily with the IS350.
Check out the performance section if you are interested in unlocking your ECU.
