Audio volume increases to MAX on its own and freezes there!?
Hi all,
I remember reading about this issue on the forums but couldn't locate a thread using the search function, so forgive me if it's been answered.
The other day I was driving and listening to XM at level 29 volume, and all of a sudden the volume went up to max level, the screen froze there and I had completely lost control of the whole system. I couldn't lower the volume using the **** or the steering wheel buttons. I couldn't change modes either (FM, XM, Media, etc). I couldn't get out of radio and go to Navigation, couldn't change stations, couldn't turn everything off either (by pushing the volume ****).
The thing was just stuck there, I got out of the highway as soon as I could... my ears were bleeding and I closed my windows so people wouldn't hear it and I stopped as soon as I could, turned the engine off and restarted it.
There was a burnt smell after that, probably coming from the speakers or something.
I will take it to the dealership to have everything checked (including the integrity of the speakers), but has anyone had this issue and how was it solved?
Thanks.

not sure about the volume going up by itself, possible the radio receiver is faulty.
as for the freezing/inoperative, there is an update for 2014 is250/350 for navigation only.
