Can I buy a 2015 IS300 and use the ECU UPGRADE TUNE?
I initially wanted to buy the 2015 or 2016 IS350 F Sport because I liked the power the IS350 had and the F Sport just made the car look extra cool! After looking at the prices and the minimal availability of the IS350, I considered getting the IS300 for the price and using a ECU Upgrade tune up, as shown in the link below, which should give it 10hp more than the IS350. Would this be the right way to go? Also, does this affect the car in any other way long term? I am also assuming it would void warranty?

Incorrect...a 300 with the RR Tune should produce more hp than a stock 350. That is also why RR sells the same exact tune for the 350. The 300/350 engines are identical. The RR Tune is by far the best performance mod any IS300/RC300 owner could do.

Hi sarcoptic,
Just curious about the benefits you've seen from the ECU upgrade.
Does it improve acceleration from the start, or just when you hit the higher RPM's?
Have you seen much change in fuel consumption?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
thanks!

Fuel consumption hasn't really changed much in my ride...mostly highway miles still getting 23 - 25 ( I do have an RC300 AWD). The tune is absolutely fantastic. It was enough that the wife even came back from shopping and asked what I did to the car. It gives the car power and torque through the entire gear up to the new 7200 rpm redline. It removes the dip that is shown on RR's site on the 300. The rest of my car is stock and has by far been the best $550 I spent. Simon and Rafi have been fantastic in email communications and RR Racing overall has a very good and strong background here on ClubLexus. This is by far the best hp for the $$$ for those with a 300. Forewarn though that RR does have a 350 AWD for their test car meanings its the 6 speed. From what I understand some of the RWD 8 speed trannys are having slip issues, but they are trying to resolve that.

Oh hey look a video of "someone" going from 0 to 100 with an RC300 AWD and the RR tune...hopefully this helps get the point across

Good question as I see what you are referring to...I did some looking on RR site and they do note:
- We raised the shift points to higher rev limits in Sport and Sport+ modes (rev limit can only be reached in manual shifting with traction control off)

Hmm, what's up with the exhaust note on the video? Sounds fake-ish.
In addition, the raised rev limiter is cool, but does the tune actually give you more power in any other regard? Acceleration time seems about the same as stock.

Agreed. Running the RR tune on my 2016 IS300 and loving every moment of it.
