Brake pad life on IS350 f-Sport?
How long should I expect the front brake pads to last on a 2015 IS350 F-Sport? I replaced pads and had he rotors machined at 15k miles, which seems way too soon...

My 2014 is350 went 45k on the fronts. 15k is way too early unless you drive unusually hard.
Heck, my Porsche Boxster S has 30k miles on it and plenty of pad showing still.

Welcome to Club Lexus.
The f sport pads are a high performance pad with a softer compound so they will wear down much quicker than a non-performance pad. If you search around the forums, especially the Suspension and Brakes sub-forum, you'll find many having the same issue as you with the f sport pads.
As for Mrg02d going 45k miles, is that on f sport pads?

I drive about 60/40 highway/city and coast/engine brake a lot.

16IS200T F sport (same brakes/pads as 350 F sport) Mine are at 11k and have about 4mm left. 1mm more and I'm going to replace just the pads. The rotors don't look all that bad. I'll measure the rotors to make sure.

Maybe your rears need to be adjusted? They might not be biting down enough?

At 45k you're definitely an outlier here. I asked the same question when I had to replace the pads on my 2015 IS350 F Sport earlier than I expected. I am pretty stop and go on my normal commute so my brakes got more of a workout in a shorter distance than most might have. Between 15-20k seems to be the norm. And I think maybe PatrixUSA'squestion about F Sport brakes means did you replace them with something else early on or are they the original pads that came on the car? Some F Sport owners here have replaced with something not OEM and gotten much more life out of them.

Stop and go commuting everyday will wear out the pads and disks pretty fast, so hopefully the Akebonos will last for quite awhile.

Hows the braking power of the Akebonos? I hear that the more brake dust generated means more stopping power.

The stock fsport pads are semi-metallic so you'll get more braking power.
The Akebonos are ceramic. After a few months of driving with them, they are about 5-10% weaker but barely noticeable from day-to-day driving.
They have the same initial bite but feel at bit softer on VERY hard braking, that's when you feel the discrepancy.
I have no regrets with them since I commute bumper to bumper traffic everyday.
