All new cars are boring when compared, but they are also reliable in all weather, can carry my kids, and get great MPG. Nothing wrong with the IS 350. Have a great time with it and sure you can blow the doors off my IS 250 if we both went to the track, but for DDing why? Why spend the extra money on the car, fuel, insurance, etc. We are all sitting in the same traffic going 15 mph or at dead stop. (God I hate the 405)

This ain't about a track experience but everyday driving. I also have very little traffic and lack a toy car so I have a good enough daily driver with a little fun. I just find the 2.5L isn't worth the price given the capabilities of the chassis. For a little more, it's just a much better experience.
it doesn't. the issue was largely remedied in 2010.

The extra power sure is nice when you need to pass. It's not about street racing at all, it's about keeping up with everyone else around you. The is350 is now just a tad above average in terms of speed. Huyndais and Hondas are just as fast now, for all intents and purposes. This means that day to day manuevering around requires more than the is250 can offer.
Always find it interesting when someone acts like the 350 is for street racers and the like, just trying to justify their 250 purchase.

Id never pay that for this car with this mileage, but I guess somebody must be.

What toy car are you hiding in the garage?
Always find it interesting when people on forums try to assign motive and read minds of other people. Or are you just trying to justify your purchase and your reasons are the only valid ones for all people everywhere? Differing opinions scare you that much?

Ive driven under powered cars and had some close calls when they let me down in the power deptartment. When Toyota and Honda are faster than you, it's time to upgrade for the sole purpose of being able to keep up.
Ever been in traffic with a scooter in front? Ever driven a scooter?
Also, I see a lot of people buy the is250 and then come here asking how they can boost the power. :-/
Didn't Lexus retire the is250 anyways?
My reply was a direct result of a previous post suggesting that us few is350 owners are street racing and that the is250 is enough.

Yup road around on a Honda Spree when I was a kid. All 50CC’s of rage and 35mph top speed. Never took it on the freeway but drove around city streets without getting into an accident or being ran off the roads.
Yes Lexus did retire the is250, they replaced it with the is200t which still makes less power than the is350. Is that car able to keep up at 70 mph? I am shocked that ecoboxes are legal on the roads at all. I mean surely they cant keep up. How do people survive in leafs, sparks, my god YARIS's they are fellow Toyota drivers we need to save them. So keep up how? 0 to 60 time from light to light? 0 to 70 on the freeway? Or out here where I live 0 to 25 maybe 40. You may have wide open roads and floor it from every light using all of that power, I don't nor do most people I see driving everyday and going in and out of LA I am sure I see more people driving daily.
Below is a list of cars. Red cars are slower than the is250 so they like the is250 are dangerous? Or is it not how fast they are but how much “power” they make? I mean we are going to see a flood of lawsuits with all of these unsafe cars on the road? I am shocked that anyone driving the new electric cars make it the first time they get on the freeway, must be pure terror for them. I won’t make any assumptions about your close calls in “under powered cars”.
2014 IS 250 0 to 60 7.2 seconds ¼ mile 15.3 seconds unsafe baseline car
2017 Camry XSE 0 to 60 8 seconds ¼ mile 15.8 (i4) seconds
2017 Camry XSE 0 to 60 6.1 seconds ¼ mile 14.5 (V6) seconds
2016 Corolla S Plus 0 to 60 8.5 second ¼ mile 16.7 seconds
2016 Accord touring coupe 0 to 60 5.6 seconds ¼ mile 14.2 seconds
2016 Accord EX-L coupe (manual) Yes you can still get accords in manuals. 0 to 60 5.8 seconds ¼ mile 14.2 seconds
2017 Accord Hybrid 0 to 60 7.1 seconds ¼ mile 15.6 seconds
2017 Civic Hatchback Sport 0 to 60 7.2 seconds ¼ mile 15.3 seconds (same times so unsafe?)
2017 Fit 0 to 60 8.5 seconds ¼ mile 16.9 seconds
2016 Leaf SL 0 to 60 10 seconds ¼ mile 17.2 seconds
2016 Sentra SL 0 to 60 9.5 seconds ¼ mile 17.4 seconds
People asking how to boost the power means what?
Who cares if you can eventually get up to speed, it's about how FAST you can get up to speed that matters. My old 125cc scooter could get up to 50mph,
down hill. I'd ride it on the 45mph roads all of the time, but never would attempt to pass anyone...I couldn't.
When you pull into the passing lane, you better be able to pass before the cars behind you have to hit their brakes because your ACCELERATION is anemic. Back in the day, the is250 was adequate. It just isn't anymore, and I'm one of those guys that hits cruise control at 75mph.
Putting around town, going to get groceries, maybe I'm wrong. Going on the freeway? Get outa here.
Just remembered about a 250 trying to pass me on the freeway, despite someone being in my way as well. When my lane was clear, I sped back up and the little 250 had to get back behind me. Just had too little power to complete the pass. He later decided to greatly exceed the limit for whatever reason.

So again, all cars as slow or slower than the is250 are unsafe on the freeway. Jesus its going to be a rough couple years. So many accidents are going to be happening.
Should have included. the IS250 is going 86.9 MPH in the quarter mile, so 16 over the maximum speed limit in FL.

So they have enough power to GREATLY exceed the speed limit but are still under powered. You're confusing me now, are they under powered or did the car go faster than all posted speed limits in FL? I mean that sounds super dangerous on the other side, and if the IS250 are slower than your car we should take all the power out of the IS350 because they are able to exceed the speed limit even faster. But honestly just sounds like street racing again.
Most vehicles cars going to greatly exceed the speed limit. GETTING to the speed limit makes all the difference among cars.
The is350 extra 100HP doesn't require one to drive fast at all times, it's just there when you need to get into, or out, of trouble.
The IS is a very heavy car. If the is250 is all one can afford, then fine, It's a comforting ride. Just don't get into the passing lane out on the freeway during rush hour times.

Look dudebro, once you get into the is350 range, or the Honda v6 or even then new Toyota Camry for that matter, range, you'll find that there is a major difference (improvement?) in getting up to speed quicker.
